Harry Tirey writes:  I enjoyed seeing the pictures you have posted.  I grew up in Sheffield in the 50's and 60's.  My Dad was the Fire Chief for many years.  As you can see by the inset in the attached picture, it was taken during the July 4th, 1947 parade, Montgomery Ave, downtown Sheffield.  I remember eating in the Walgreen's in the background and buying new shoes from 'JD' at the Belk Hudson Department Store.  This picture was given to me by a lifetime friend of my Dad's, Virgil Tittle, after he delivered the eulogy at my Dad's funeral.  Virgil is on one of the bicycles behind the fire truck.  The firemen referred to this truck as the 'Diamond T'.  I guess that had something to do with the manufacturer.
