WALTER HENRY BROOKS, SR.,
WIFE, SON, and DAUGHTER-IN-LAW

This picture, dated 16 September l944, shows Walter Henry Brooks
and Lena Gray Brooks with their son, Walter Henry ("Henny") Brooks, Jr.
 and his wife, Sarah (known as "Bootsie").

Walter and Lena Brooks moved to Sheffield in l891, and Walter worked
for the railroad as a boilermaker for almost 40 years. He died in l953.

Lena raised six children in Sheffield, and she died in l965.

Henny Brooks lived all his life in Sheffield, graduated from Sheffield High
School in 1937
, and served as Police Commissioner from l955-62.
He also operated Henny Brooks' Menswear on Montgomery Avenue
in Sheffield from l948 through 1958. He died in l970.

Bootsie Brooks moved to Sheffield in l936, graduated from Sheffield High
School in l937, and raised four children while also working for the
Sheffield Public Schools, serving as a secretary for Superintendents
Brewster and Boley. She died in l99l.

All four are buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
