I have recently completed a book entitled "Soldiers of the 16th Infantry Regiment     Alabama     1861 Humble Heroes  1865."  A Company of this Regiment was made up of boys from Conecuh County.  The book is available from the author (Carolyn Murray Greer,  516 Mt. Zion Road, Madison, AL 35757-9421) for $39.95 plus $3 S & H.  This 425+ book gives information about military aspects, particularly as it pertained to the 16th, and then includes about fifty Individual Histories of Humble Heroes who fought as part of the 1500+ soldiers of the Regiment.   My favorite among those were the McGowin brothers.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Murray Greer

 EARLY SOUTHERN FULLERS, 2nd edition

The first edition of Early Southern Fullers was written in 1967 by Col. T. A. Fuller and became a valued resource for the study of Fullers who populated the South early in our nation's history.

Now his daughter, Kay Fuller Mitchell has compiled an extended work in a second edition, which will be available at the end of March 2003.  This genealogical study considers three Fuller families whose descendants settled in the South prior to 1850.  (Individuals born prior to 1 Jan 1851 are included as well as their siblings regardless of birth date.)
·    CAPTAIN WILLIAM FULLER was an officer in Oliver Cromwell's Army, became the governor of Maryland in the middle of 17th century and finally moved to the Charleston, SC area.  The wills of these Fullers attest to their wealth and numerous plantations along the Ashley River.
·    The origins of EZEKIEL FULLER are unknown.  He did live in the Isle of Wight County, VA as early as 1703 and left a will in 1722.  He and his wife Deborah had 12 children.  With eight of these children sons, Ezekiel's surname was destined for a multiplicity of people and places.
·    JOHN FULLER of Baltimore County, MD wrote on the bottom of a 1770 lease that his two sons, HENRY AND NEHEMIAH, had "Gone to Caroline."  These men began another Southern Fuller line.
·    An additional chapter outlines some other Fuller families who have yet to be connected with one of these established lines.  They have been included for future research and study.
This massive volume - over 1,100 pages of 8½ X11 text - is printed on acid-free paper in easy to read print.  The linen hard binding is Smythsewn and the title is embossed in gold on the cover and spine.  Included are 73 photos, 10 maps and 7 original drawings.

As this is a study to assist genealogists and novices with their own research, aides have been provided.
·    A glossary of Latin, legal and historical terms
·    Transcriptions of 46 original wills
·    Appendices which include additional information pertinent to the Fullers in the book, such as rosters of Fullers who served in our nation's conflicts and wars
·    Three sets of indices: one for Fullers; a general index and a geographic index
·    Abundant endnotes after each chapter directing the reader to sources and resources or additional information.

The book may be ordered now.  The cost of the book in advance sales will be $67.50 with no mailing charges.  After April 1, 2003, the price will be $72.  Number of books printed will be based partially on presales.
