Possibly Dale CO., AL in 1860 & then in Geneva Co., the rest of the years. Siblings of John who are found in Geneva Co. are Rufus, Jasper, Eliza, & Jesse B. WINDHAM HALL SEGREST I am searching fo information on my gandparents Ida Hall and Alto ( maybe Julus ALto/n)Windham. My dad was bornedin Geneva co on February 12, 1914. My dad had a brother Dorace Glyn borned in 1912 and a sister Clara born around 1916, his name was Horace Silas Windham . My dad died when I was young and i only saw my grandmother twice, but the story I was told is that she had a sister named Ada who lived in Florida , I believe and maybe one named Margaret. Alto died or was killed and Ida placed the children in a baptist childrens home and moved to Montgomery and married B.C. /bugg/ Segrest. She died i the 1960s. I am currently searching for any information I can find on my Grandfather and Grandmother Jimmy and Mozella MARTAIN LAMPLEY. I beleive that they came to this area around the early 1900s, and settled in the High Bluff area of Geneva County Alabama. My grandparents were beleived to have been borned around the Perote/Smut Eye/Tuskegee area of Alabama. They were the parent of seven (7) children, James, Curtis, Henry, Elbert, Artie Mae, Mamie Ruth and Annie Pearl. It is located on Route One in Geneva, Alabama. My great grandfather was a white man who lived on this plantation. His name appears on my grandfather's death certificate as "Side Johnson" He was also known as "Sie" or "Sye" His first name could also have been Samuel. He fathered twins by my grandmother Jane. Her husband either died, was killed, or was sold to another slave owner. I believe Jane was either a slave or a farm-worker for the Johnson family. I also believe her last name was "Paine" or "Pain" The twins she had by this white Johnson man were, Taylor Johnson and Alice Johnson both born Jan-10-1893. Jane also had a much older son named Will Paine by a black man. Please help me.
