DAY/SIBLEY
Looking for contemporary descendants of William H. DAY and wife Elizabeth Edith (aka Lizzie?) SIBLEY, who were living in Decatur in 1936. The 1920 Morgan County census has them, but the John N. SIBLELY family were "from" Franklin Co (see 1900 census). Mrs. Day was daughter of John N. SIBLEY and Octavia WOOD. Mrs. Day apparently wrote some family history in 1936 which named the children of Robert SIBLEY and wife Elizabeth (I have the children's names). I need to confirm that information, either through some legal record, Bible record, etc. I am specifically interested to confirm there was a daughter named Mahaly or Mahala, as reported by Mrs. Day and in several publishings of this family history. Nothing I've seen follows up on this reported daughter Mahala, but I believe I have located her...but need to prove for sure the SIBLEY connection. Thanks.

GRIFFING
I'm trying to find information on Gordon Lewis Griffin, Sr. I found him in 1930 living in Decatur with his wife Margaret and his brother Thomas. I next found him and Thomas in Decatur living with their father and mother, Walter and Sarah C. Also found Gordon in 1910 in Decatur age 2 living with his parents, Walter and Sarah. Also found him on the SS Death Index - born Sep 3, 1908 and died Dec 1972. And that's it. What little family information there is follows - Gordon Lewis Griffin married Margaret West about 1929. They had a son they named Gordon Lewis Griffin, Jr. who was born Nov 1930 in Decatur. Shortly after the birth of his son, Gordon Sr. left Margaret and Gordon Jr. and never contacted them again. Very little is known about Gordon Sr. Margaret moved back to where her family was. We think that was Minnesota. At some point, she remarried to Charles Louis Jacobson and he adopted Gordon Jr changing his name to Louis Griffin Jacobson. Margaret's parents went to Mineral County, Nevada, and founded the town of Hawthrone where Margaret died and is buried. Margaret and her brothers were born in the Philippines while there father was working over there for the Houghton Co. which was based in Minnesota. Any help locating any information on Gordon Lewis Griffin (Sr.) would be so very much appreciated. I'm at a dead end. I was told that he was at one time chief of police in Decatur. Haven't been able to confirm this either. If anyone knows anything that might help, please contact me.

HUCKABYI would like to locate a Jerome Huckaby or a member of his family. He left a query on a web page owned by a Ed Adams stating that he would like to know where his grandmother, Velma Sloan Huckaby, is buried. I can give him or a family member that information. He gave an e-mail address where he could be reached, but when I tried to contact him, it came back as an invalid address. He said that he was living in Hartselle, Ala. If you or anyone has any information as to how to contact him, I will be glad to have it. His grandmother was a sister to my father, so there is a family connection there. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
