Perry County -11th Regiment Alabama Infantry - Company K

11th Infantry Regiment was formed at Lynchburg, Virginia, in June, 1861, and totalled 972 men. They were from Marengo, Greene, Bibb, Washington, Perry, Clarke, Fayette, Pickens, and Tuscaloosa counties. There were 14 officers and 176 men at the surrender on April 9, 1865. SOURCE: Familysearch.org SOURCE: Ken Jones made this 11th AL list from newspaper articles stored at Judson College, Marion AL; delivered via net 5-28-98.

Note: this list is very similiar to the Perry County list that was found in Harris, called Capt. Talbird's Company, but it is not exact!
Just goes to show, when dealing with secondary sources, eventually you have to see originals. There are 5 more names in this Jones list than were in the Harris list. Also, some names were spelled differently. You should check both.

Notes:
October '98 - Ron Griffin writes "I am currently involved in research on the 11th Alabama Infantry during the Civil War, with the hope of producing a book on the regiment. I had two Perry County ancestors in Co. K: John and Robert Griffin. I am seeking information from those who had ancestors in the Independent Volunteers, Co. K 11th Alabama. Letters, diaries, pictures, etc.. "

Dec, 1998- Greg King writes [missing]"... a John Radliff or (also filed) Little SBJ Ratliff or Ratcliffe in Co K, 11th Ala Inf, pvt, who enlisted in Perry Co AL, and surrendered at Appomattox. He is listed in Broadfoot."
