Aged Citizen Attempts Suicide

G.P. Posey in Serious Condition After Slashing His Throat With Razor C.P. Posey, 81, made an unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide at his home two miles South of Blountsville about 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. He slashed his throat in three places, it is said, with a razor, but fortunately did not sever the jugular vein. One of the gashes is said to have penetrated the windpipe and his condition is serious. He was rushed to a Birmingham infirmary where it is hoped surgeons could save him. The cause for the rash act is not known, but it is thought that he became despondent on account of ill health. It is understood that he had been suffering with pellagra for a number of years, but was able to be up. Mr. Posey is the father of Chief of Police T.W. Posey, of Oneonta.
