J. J. Whitehead, a traveling artist, was taken to town and lodged in jail on Wednesday last. He was charged with an indecent assault upon a person of a ten year old white girl near Hood's X Roads.

At Brooksville, in this county, a few days ago, to ex-Sheriff George D. Shelton and his wife, a son.

HOME PERSONALS

Miss Stewart of Cullman, who has been on a visit to friends here, left for home on Monday. We would not be surprised to hear of some of our young men visiting Cullman frequently.

Mr. S. J. Cox, of Anderton called to see us on Saturday, speaks hopefully of crop prospects in that portion of the county.

Prof. Mize, of Viola, Mr. C. B. Ingram, of Chepultepec, and several others of our scholastic friends called to see us on Saturday.

Mr. J. R. Wooten, who has been attending a Commercial College at Quincy, Ill., during the Winter and Spring, returned home on Sunday last.

Mr. Geo. D. Shelton, of Brooksville, was in to see us on Saturday. He reports the health of that neighborhood very good and farmers are very busy.

Mr. DeWit Clowdus, of Nectar, was in on Monday and informed us that Mrs. Caroline Henderson was dangerously ill from typhoid fever.

Mr. Ed. N. Wood is in Birmingham, and is making arrangements to move there with his family.
