PIONEER FARMER DIES AT RESIDENCE

Jesse Blackwood, 79, died at his home on Route 3, Blountsville on Sunday April 8th. He had been in ill health for some time.

He was a member of a pioneer family of this county and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Blackwood.

Mr. Blackwood was a prominent farmer and was well and favorably known to many people in the county. He had made many friends in his long and useful life who regret the news of his passing.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ellie Becknell, Rt. 3, Oneonta, Mrs. Eliza Robertson, Mrs. Effie Teal and Mrs. Ruby Snell all of Rt. 3, Blountsville, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 9th at Mt. Joy Baptist Church and were conducted by Elders David Green and H.B. Autry. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery, with Chambers Brown-Service in charge.
