Matthews, age sixty-four, died Sunday, May 4th, at his home On Route 1 Gallant, following a stroke of paralysis on Friday, May 2nd. Surviving Mr. Matthews are three sons, C.C., of Rt. 3, Blountsville, C.S. of Rt. 2 Altoona, and J.H. of Rt. 1 Gallant; one daughter, Mrs. Z.E. Engle, of Route 2, Oneonta; one brother, J. A. Matthews, of R.F.D. Gallant; two sisters, Miss Ella Matthews, of Gallant, and Mrs. J. W. Hobbs, of Rte. 1, Gallant. Rev. Butler Moon conducted the funeral at Bethlehem Cemetery on Monday. Wade, of Oneonta, was in charge.
