John Murphree Dead
John Murphree, an aged and highly respected citizen of this county died at his home on route 2, Blountsville on May 14th. He had been ill for several weeks and gradually grew weaker until the end. Mr. Murphree was 81 years of age and for the past 30 years had resided at the place where he died. He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist church and at the time of his death was the oldest member of that congregation. The deceased is survived by his widow, four sons, P.L. Murphree, of route 1, Bangor; Julius Murphree, of Star Route, Blountsville; Mose Murphree of route 2, Blountsville; and Hubert Murphree, who resides out West; three daughters, Mrs. John Dunn and Mrs. Alice Fowler, of route 1, Bangor, and Mrs. Frank Johns, of route 2, Blountsville; two brothers, Phillip and William Murphree, both of R. 2, Blountsville. The funeral services were held at Mt. Tabor cemetery Friday and were conducted by Rev. S.F. Reid.
