Dicie Ann Nobles Submitted by Robin Sterling The Blount County Journal, 16 Jun 1911 Dies At Age of 104 Years Dicie Ann Nobles, a negress 104 years of age died at her home in Oneonta last Thursday. She was born in Knoxville county, in 1807, and moved to Blount county before the war. She was sold as a slave six times, outliving each of her masters. The old negress, a short time before her death could call to memory many interesting happenings which occurred many, many years ago. She was a member of the Methodist church and was a good old negress. She lived with her granddaughter, old Aunt Mary Brown for many years. The aged negress retained her eyesight up to the time of her death.
