Summit Post Office, Blount County

A post office was placed at summit, in Blount County, Alabama, on June 1, 1841. Its name at that time was Martin's Stand. On March 6, 1845, the name was changed to Summit. On July 31, 1846, the name was changed bo Santafee, but was changed back to Summit on January 22, 1847. After 116 years of continuous existence the office was abolished on May 31, 1957.
