ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: John Brady lived and farmed in Blount County, AL. His Brady ancestors came from Ireland in the mid-1700s to Georgia then to Alabama around mid 1800s. (on Mormon website)He fought in Co.K of 19th Al. Infantry for the Confederacy. After the War, his family moved to central Texas by train with a good sized Blount County Group. He got in a gun fight with one of these people and was tried but acquiteed for murder. Then he moved to southern Texas. His son James Samuel Brady and wife Martha Beavers (also from Blount County) were my great grandparents. They ended up in Bay City Texas and had 14 children, one of which was Minnie Belle Brady, my grandmother. She married a school teacher/principal named Lacy D. Midgett, which made her legal name Minnie Midgett, and she was only 5 feet tall with long dark hair and pretty blue eyes. The Brady sisters were very pretty and were called "The beautiful Brady girls". I was a school teacher and Minnie's grandmother Sarah Beavers was the first school teacher in Blount County, which helped support her family while husband LLoyd was away with the Confederate Army. I have a lovely 13 verse song she wrote lamenting Lloyd's death. I was born and rasied in Houston but lived in Birmingham, AL for a number of years where I discovered two third cousins: Carolyn Beavers Chalkley and Robert (Bob) Brady. They are great people to know and were a comfort when I was so far from my Texas family. Submitted 3/2005

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I have been hoping to locate documentation PROVING my ancestor David C. Hays/Hayes (Confederate Soldier) born ca 1827 as son of Standwick W. Hays and first wife Catherine Counts. I need this documentation to prove this generation in order to join Daughters of American Revolution. I have the WILL of immigrant Henry Counts (b. ca 1737 of Germany) dated 1814 in Newberry South Carolina listing his daughter Catherine and her husband Standwick Hays/Hayes, along with documentation from NARA listing Henry COUNTS as a South Carolina Patriot.
In the 1850 Blount County, Alabama Federal Census David C. Hays/Hayes was living next door to his father Standwick & Standwick's 2nd wife Elizabeth Mullins (Granddaughter of Revolutionary Soldier Stephen D. Mullins who also settled in Blount County, AL).
I do have David C. Hays/Hayes' military papers from the War Between the States, though David did not live long enough to receive a Pension, nor did his wife Emily (as far as I can tell). I have not been able to determine when David C. Hayes died, nor where he is buried? David does not have a marked headstone that I can locate at the family's Hays cemetery, Hayden, Blount County, AL where both his parents and most of his 20 siblings are buried. I do have a plot map showing location of Homestead lands received by David, so David & wife Emily could be buried on the Homestead land, I'm just not sure?
I believe David C. Hays/Hayes died before February 22, 1878 when his daughter Mary Catherine Hayes married in Blount County to Washington Forrest Davis as the marriage license listed marriage took place "at Brides' mother's home". All previous marriages of his children, David either signed the marriage certificates or the wedding was listed as being at home of David Hays (vs. at Bride's mother's home).
David & wife Emily (last name unknown?) Hays are my ancestors thru their oldest child Henry Harrison Hayes born May 1847. Henry Harrison Hayes married September 03, 1865 in Oneonta, Blount Co, Al, by J. H. Mop (?Moss), J P, (signed by David C. Hayes) to Elizabeth Mary "Lizar/Louisa" DAVIS. I also would like to know where Harrison and Lizar Hayes are buried? Their oldest child Thomas Andrew Hayes and wife Bettie STEWART settled in Walker County, Alabama and are my great grandparents.
I also would like to communicate with anyone who may have information on any of this family.

John D. Freeland married Dirby GREEN. John D. FREELAND listed on the 1850 Heard Co Georgia Census before 1861-1865 serving in the Confederate Military in the War Between the States. 1870 Randolph Co AL, John D. Freeland listed in Federal Census 1920 Blount CO AL, listed as "boarder with Mace Murphree" 1923 died Blount CO AL with Ophelia Murphree's signing off death certificate. John D. Freeland is an ancestor of one of my neighbors here in California who is doing FREELAND research. She was shocked when I found her John D. buried in "my neck of the Alabama woods" and she would love to learn MORE about anyone with information on the above named people!!!!!
