Seeking parents and place of birth of Edna Elizabeth CASH born 1822.
Edna married George W. RAGSDALE abt 1842/43. She died abt 1900, probably at
Tecumseh, Cherokee County. Interested in learning names of newspapers for
the Tecumseh area and whether they are avilable on microfilm through
interlibrary loan.
Seeking descendants of Rev. John W. POTTER b. abt 1818 GA (possibly
Crawford Co.; 1880 census says parents b. NC & GA), d. June 1883, Bryce
Hospital, Tuscaloosa, AL; lived in Gadsden, Cherokee/Etowah County AL from
1840 until death. Was a Methodist minister & school teacher as well as
delegate to the 1861 Secession Convention. Married Martha Eunice BROWN abt
1844; Children: John W., Jr., James, Charles, William Thomas (my ancestor),
Mary Francis POTTER CAIN WESCOTT, and Sarah/Sallie POTTER MOORE.
I'm interested in the following COX line: Aaron COX, born: about 1812 in
South Carolina, spouse: unknown The 1850 Benton Co., Alabama census shows
the following family:
Aaron COX (M-38-SC)
Catherine (F-20-AL)
Abram (M-14-AL)
Nancy M. (F-11-AL)
Charles W. (M-3-AL)
Arabella (F-2-AL)
Arrabella COX married Moses WADDLE, 29-Mar-1866, in Calhoun Co., Alabama.
I'm interested in identifying Aaron's parents and spouse. It's possible all
of the above are his children. It's also possible that Catherine is his 2nd
wife and mother of the youngest two children. In either case, what was his
first (or only) wife's name? Who were his parents?
I have done real well with some of my research but not on my
g-g-grandfather's line. James Franklin (Frank) BIRCHFIELD was born in
Alabama in 1826, married Betsy HEATON in 1845 in Benton Co., Al., died in
1906 in Clay Co., Alabama. They had seven children. Who were the parents of
James Franklin BIRCHFIELD? Who were his brothers and sisters? Is there
anyone who can help me?
I would appreciate a 1900 and 1910 census look-up for Hugh BRADLEY in
Calhoun County, AL. He was b. ca 1895 in Anniston. His mother ran a boarding
house there. Any information about this person would be very much
appreciated.
Mary E. KING (b c1842, daughter of William KING and wife Gilla/Gilly)
first marries ? HICKS and has children Mary E. "Nettie" HICKS and James
William Asbury HICKS in Randolph County, AL. In 1866, this portion of
Randolph County became Cleburne County. Mary marries second J. P. "Jacob"
SMITH in Oct 1867 and is found with him, the HICKS children, and children
Matilda (age 1) and Mathew M. (age 7 mo.; believed to be a neighbor's child)
in the household of her parents in the 1870 Federal Census of Cleburne
County. The SMITHs are found in Calhoun County in 1880 with two additional
children, Solomon, 4, and William N. 2,NR (does this mean not reported or no
relation?) I lose the Smith's after this census. I pick up Thomas Jefferson
SMITH who married Sarah Sally J. SINGLETON and live in Anniston, Calhoun
County, AL with their children until Jeff's death in 1940. Obit for Jeff
states that Solomon "Sol" is living in Sylacauga, AL. Ironically, "William
N." and Thomas Jefferson birth years are almost the same. I do not know if
William N. and Thomas Jefferson are the same person. If you have additional
information on the HICKS or KINGs, parents, etc. please get in touch with
me.
I am seeking ancestral links to my maternal grandmother, a mulatto,
whose maiden name was Eliza COLE. She was born circa 1852 in either Marion
City in Perry County or the city of Anniston in Calhoun (Benton) County,
Alabama, She married my grandfather, Isaac ROSS in Dallas County in 1886,
and died in New York in 1944. Isaac ROSS was born in VA circa 1825. I'm
seeking links to him also.
KNIGHTEN/KNIGHTON, Jeremiah, John, Joseph - relationship to each other.
