KIRBY, VARNON, WHITE posted by Jeff Varnon on Saturday, March 1, 1997

I am looking for a Samantha WHITE b 1861. I have found her living with an uncle August KIRBY in Calhoun County, AL, in the 1880 census. I have also found a Jane WHITE b 1857 that I believe to be the sister of Samantha. Jane was living with an uncle Joe KIRBY in Calhoun County in the 1870 census. Samantha married my Great Grandfather Louis L. or Lewis M. VARNON and they had their first child in 1881. I believe them to be married in Calhoun County, AL sometime just before 1881. If you have any information on these WHITEs or KIRBYs please exchange GEDCOM files with me.

DODD, WARD posted by Elizabeth A. Dodd on Thursday, March 6, 1997

I am looking for any information about a Algener S. DODD (b 1821 in SC) wife, Sarah A. (WARD) b 1822 SC, lived in Benton Co. AL in 1847-1857. There were other DODD families in the area in the 1850 census and he is listed as #211 in Benton Co: A. S. DODD, 4 of the children (Sara E. b 1848, Taylor H. b 1852, William E. b 1854, & Martha G b 1856) were born in Benton Co. AL. Since there were other DODD families there at the same time could they be related to any of them? They moved from the Atlanta GA area to AL and then to Lauderdale Co MS in about 1857-58. I lost the family during the Civil War except for my husband's g-grandfather, John Samuel DODD, that served in the War and settled following the war in North Central MS. Thanks for anything you might find.

DAVIS, FALK posted by Ann Davis on Tuesday, April 8, 1997

Searching for a William W. DAVIS born c1800 or maybe earlier, perhaps in S.C. or resided there before coming to Al. He married a Sarah FALK, 27 Dec 1836 in Lowndes Co. Al,..they are found in 1840 census in Benton/Calhoun Co. with two boys born 1829 and 1832, perhaps William's sons by a first wife. By the 1850 Calhoun Co. census, Sarah is alone with the boys, then in their teens. A Sarah FALK is found in the 1830 census in Lowndes Co. with two male children and two female children and living near another William DAVIS .. the nearest William DAVIS household to the above has one son under the age of five which could have been Ensley .. born 1829, the others were three females age range of 10-15, 15-20 and 50-60. His age is near perfect with the young son ... there are a total of four William DAVIS' in the Southern Dist. of Lowndes Co. in 1830. There was also a Philip FALK who may have been a brother(?) to Sarah ... the other son was eventually named Jasper Newton when he was born in 1832. I don't have much to go on past this information, any leads would be helpful...this family has almost no descendants, unless William had siblings and anyone could help with suppplying that information. Thank you.

WALKER posted by James E. Walker on Thursday, April 17, 1997

WALKER, John Ruben (Rubin) was my Grandfather. He was born 8 Sep 1851 in Ragland, St Clair County, AL. He was married to an unnamed lady who bore him two children namely William Charlie Earnest WALKER born 18 Aug 1875 and died 25 October 1883. Another child was Nora Ann Jennetta WALKER b 1 Mar 1875 and died 29 Aug 1877.The only information I have came from an article in the Alabama Christian Advocate, Birmingham, AL dated Jan,9,1884. It states that Earnest WALKER, only son of J.R. and R.A. WALKER was born in Calhoun County, AL. and died near Fairview, AL 25 Oct 1993. It goes on to say how sad to think the sweet, merry voice and sunny face of eight summers will be heared no more in the once happy home. His sweet spirit is now with those who are happy forever, waiting and watching for the loved ones left behind. Ernest seemed to be warned of his death. Before he was taken sick he seemed serious and sad, and asked his grandma if she would not go down into the grave with him. He thought his mama and sister were in Heaven and he seemed to be satisfied. He suffered greatly but never murmured. May we all meet in heaven. Aunt Fannie My problem is, Who is R.A. and her parents????? Who are John Ruben's Parents? I would appreciate any infomation you may render. Jim Walker
