CONWAY/CONNIWAY/CONAWAY I don't know if any of my CONWAYs, other than my
uncle, Bryan CONWAY, were ever in Calhoun County but it's as good of a place
to search for William Perry CONAWAY, son of Richard CONAWAY/CONNIWAY/CONWAY
as any other as all I know for sure is that William was born in AL. I am
also trying to research information on my Uncle Bryan CONWAY who was
stationed at Camp McClellan in 1922. I have a copious amount of information
on the events which occurred there in June of 1922 but I would like to talk
with others who may have first or second hand knowledge. Here is the event
as I know it: On 6/7/1922, Wednesday afternoon, Sgt Alfred Wood of
California was shot and instantly killed by Bryan CONWAY of Leoma, TN. Uncle
Bryan was nolle prosequi due to lack of witnesses and evidence during
the local trial but, in Nov. 1925, was retried in Federal Court and found
guilty of 2d degree murder for which he was sentenced to 18 years in Atlanta
Federal Penitentiary. He eventually wound up in Alcatraz. I am researching
this not only because he was my uncle but, also for the Alcatraz inmate
history at the Park. If anyone has any information beyond what was carried
in the newspaper at the time or knows of a witness to the shooting or the
descendant of a witness I would love to make contact.

WILLS VEATCH -- Need information on John G. WILLS who married Mary A.
VEATCH in Benton County (later renamed Calhoun County), Alabama August 5,
1850. Mary A. Wills age 32 was found in entries in the 1870 census of
Chariton County, MO: TWP Prairie, Post Office Keytesville, Census was taken
by B. M. VEATCH on 25 July 1870. Mary was listed with children: Benjamin age
12 b. in AL, John W. age 9 b. in AL, Jesse T. age 7 b.in AL.
I am looking for the parents of Norvel (Nervel) BONDS. He was born
6-18-1835 in GA (according to the 1850 and 1860 census). He married Mary F.
REAVES on 8-27-1857. A researcher of the REAVES family has Norvel as the son
of William BONDS. I tend to believe this is incorrect because according to
the 1860 census there were two Norvel BONDS. My Norvel was 24 and his wife
Mary was 20 and they were living with Elizabeth CHANDLER, age either 40 or
70. If 40, it could be the sister to Mary. They also had a 1 year old son,
William H(enry), my greatgrandfather. This same Norvel was in the household
of P. D. BONDS, Norvel was 14. These ages agree with the birthdate of 1835.
Norvell and Mary had 6 children: William Henry, Sallie (or Sarah), Patrick
(or Perry) Dudley, Nancy, Mary (or Marida Lizabeth), and Narcissa. (I have
additional info on most of the children). According to the 1850 census P.D.
was married to Alla and their children were: Lucinda, Kiazu (or Kezzu or
Kizzah) female, Norvel, Frances E., Patrick D., and Jackson A. All children
were born in GA, P. D. was born in TN and Alla was born in SC. On the 1870
and 1880 census Mary is a widow. Her youngest child, Narcissa, was born
7-26-1870, so that puts Norvel's death after October 1869. He would have
only been about 34. Was he in the Civil War? I don't know. Does anyone have
any leads that would prove that P. D. was Norvel's father? Any information
at all on Norvel would be appreciated. They are all in Calhoun (Benton) Co
during these years. Thank you.

JENKINS -- Searching for JENKINS, Reuben. The 1840 Census for Benton Co.
shows JENKINS, Reuben as being placed at Bent 054 HD NTP. As the story goes
JENKINS, Reuben owned a plantation in this area where he lived. 1.....Need
