DAVIS, HOWARD posted by Bobby Howard on Friday, December 22, 2000

Looking for info on William James HOWARD b April 8, 1844 in Calhoun co, AL.I am unable to find any info on his parents or sibilings. On Nov. 15, 1865 he married Louisa C DAVIS in Shelby Co., AL. I have a record of that marriage. After his marriage he came to Wichita Co, TX and I have a lot of info on him but no death certificate from county or state. I can't prove he was born in Calhoun Co, but all the Wichita Co, histories say that he did but no mention is ever made of his parents, etc. The Calhoun Co 1850 census shows a John HOWARD but no William. The 1850 census of Shelby Co, shows a Benjamin HOWARD with a William but he is 11 years old, but the Davis family is listed close by and his future wife Louisa DAVIS is listed. His orbit says: when hardly 17 years of age he went to Pensacola, FL and enrolled for 3 months in the Confederate cause. At the end of 3 months he re-enlisted in the Tenth Alabama Regiment and was sent to Virginia. He wound up his service in Forrests Calvary. Surely when he went into the confederate army, he had to fill out some type of form that would show his address and his parents. I would appreciate any info on how I can obtain a copy of his Confederat Record and any other suggestions.
