BARTLETT, BROCH, BROCK, MCEACHERN, MONROE, WILLIAMS posted by Ed Easlick on Friday, November 30, 2001

Neil MCEACHERN was listed in Twp 16, Range 12, 1860 Federal Census, page 442. P J MCEACHERN, listed in the 1866 AL, Calhoun, State Census, indicated that a soldier of this family died from sickness. This may have been Neil as he did not appear in the 1870 Census for Calhoun County. Neil's wife may have been Permelia, and perhaps the PJ listed in the 1866 effort. Neil's brother was Duncan MCEACHERN, Range 16, 11 East in the 1866 Census. Duncan noted that one soldier in his household had died of sickness, while two were disabled soldiers. Duncan himself was a veteran of the AL Third Infantry, Calvary, and died in Calhoun, on 27 Jan 1921. Duncan was married to Marguarite Isabella BROCH, as whose mother was Tabitha A BROCK (WILLIAMS). Duncan and Neil's parents were Archibald and Mary (MONROE) MCEACHERN, who were living in Lost Creek, Cleburne Co., AL, per the 1880 Cenus. Another brother, Angus John (Mary Jane BARTLETT), lived next door to his parents in Lost Creek in 1880. Like to hear from anyone interested in this extended family. I have considerable data to share.

Specifically, I would like information on her parents, siblings, date and place of birth.

GREEN, HALLUM, PRATER, SHIPLEY posted by Elizabeth Lee on Thursday, December 20, 2001

I am the great granddaughter of Lydia Ann PRATER, daughter of John Basil PRATER and Eliza Ann HALLUM. She was born 1 Jan 1836 in South Carolina, and died 6 Jul 1908 in Merrellton, Calhoun, Alabama. Our family records show she married William Butler GREEN, and they are buried together in the Green Family Cemetery just north of Jacksonville. I also have a certified copy of her birth certificate, as Mrs. Lydia Ann GREEN. Recently I came in contact with Jonathan A. Mallard who has a web site entitled "A PRATER Family of Calhoun County, Alabama," that states that Lydia PRATER was born in 1810, married a Russell SHIPLEY in South Carolina, and died in the 1840's. He relies on the will of John PRATER published by the Northwest Alabama Genealogical Society from the courthouse in Anniston. I can't resolve this dilemma. I am wondering if anyone has anything to add to help me clear this up. Thank you in advance.
