FULLER, Charles UK>SC>AL>GA>AR Charles Fuller Jr. born 1816 in SC, married Sarah RAINWATER 1840 in Benton Co. AL, now Calhoun Co. Moved to Paulding Co. GA ca 1845. The family moved to Prairie Co. AR ca 1880. Charles died in Prairie Co. AR 1883. Family traditions state, “Charles Fuller, Sr. with brothers, Ezekiel and Henry, came to the colonies ca 1795-1805 after an older brother, John, inherited the family estate”. They may have been from the Wiltshire district in England. Henry went “West” and Ezekiel went to TX. A Chas Fuller is enumerated on the 1810 US census Charleston District with one male under 10, one female under 10, one female between 10-15, one male between 26 and 45 and one female between 26-45. Do not know if this is my Charles Fuller’s father. Any information regarding Charles Fuller, Jr., his parentage, siblings, etc. would be deeply appreciated. Have no verifications regarding Charles Jr. prior to his marriage in 1840. I have census and property verifications for GA. I also have property, will and burial verifications for AR. This Charles Fuller has been my brick wall for 20 years!! Charles and Sarah Fuller’s children are: Henry Elcanis b ca 1841 m Martha Crally d in Civil War GA Stephen Allen b 1844 in AL m Phoebe Calley d 1931 in AR Nancy b ca 1846 in AL d as child in GA Narcis Elizabeth b 1848 m Christopher Fanin d 1909 in GA Sarah Emeline b 1850 in GA d 1918 in AR Ezekiel Young b 1852 in GA m Sarah Paris d 1940 in AR Charles Warner b 1855 in GA m Miriam Minton d 1929 in AR James Brown b 1858 in GA m Bammy Sanders d unknown

I am looking for any information on Walter Franklin RODEN possibly born in Calhoun Co. Jan. 1864. He migrated to TX before 1888 as I have records he was married in 1888 in Lamar Co. TX. then. I understand that many RODEN's migrated to the Lamar, Fannin county area around the same time. Census records indicate that his father was born in SC and conflicting census records indicate that his mother was born in NC or AL. My grandmother told me that many years ago (before I began to research) that our RODEN's were related to Nancy Clarissa Whiteside when she married a RODEN. She also migrated to the same area after 1880. Her son Marcus L. is found there as well. I just can't find the link between my gg-grandfather and them. Anything will be a help. Thank you!!

READ/REED/REID James-THOMPSON Catherin. Trying to find READ/REED/REID, before my mother gets to old to view her ancestors. James READ/REED/REID born (Benton)/Calhoun Co. He married perhaps abt. 1858-59 to Catherin(e?) THOMPSON who was born (Benton)/Calhoun Co. abt. 1835. Children: 1. Joseph B. (Oct. 12, 1859 (Benton)/Calhoun Co. [from a family Bible] - aft. Dec. 25, 1893); 2. William David {my line} (April 13, 1862 (Benton)/Calhoun Co. - in his home in Remlap, Blount Co., Al. on May 1, 1945); 3. John Robert (Feb. 13, 1870 (Benton)/Calhoun Co. [from a family Bible] - aft. April 2, 1930). In the 1880 Calhoun Census, James is not with his family nor do I have any other record of him except son William David's Death Cert. Catherin and their sons are in the household of Samuel BADGET - Beat 10; E.D. # 10; S.D. # 2; Pg. # 15; Line 38-47- working on the farm. A cousin Mattie (of Jame's? Mattie is a READ, born in Al.) is working in Samuel's house. (Interesting note: next to Badget's household is a house with three unmarried READ sisters, all born in S.C.) I have no further records of Catherin except on William David's Death Cert. The Census states her parents were born in Ky. I have no other records of Joseph B. except him putting up bond for William's marriage to Arie Margaret Caldonia PAINTER in Blount Co., Al. The only other record of John Robert is the 1930 Calhoun Census - White Plains Prct. 11; E.D. #8-16; S.D. 3A; Sheet # 1B; Line 61-63; 14/16 - with wife Mandy (maiden unk.) and son Jestum(n?) (Justin?).

The 1850 federal census of Benton District, Alabama (Image 76 of 324)lists S. Burk with his family. His wife was Delila(h?), listed only as "D", but the children, F (I know now as Francis), G (I know now as Augustus or Gus), and John F. and their correct ages convince me that I have the correct family. Delilah was born in Georgia, and "S" in Tennessee. I do not know what the "S" initial of Burk stands for. I do know that Delila and "S" had a child, Indiana (Ann) there in Alabama on Jan. 21, 1952, the older children on the census having been born there too. However, "S" must have died shortly after the birth (or conception) of the 1852 child, since Delila was re-married in Texas in 1856 to John S. Tanner and appears on the Texas 1860 children with Tanner and two Burk (or Burke) children. What I am interested in finding out is: Did "S" come to Texas with Delilah and die there or earlier in Alabama? What did the initial "S" stand for? Although born in Georgia, did Delila grow up in Alabama? Her youngest Tanner child was elected president of Baylor University before the turn of the century, and an article on him states that his mother had brothers who were prominent lawyers (Alabama or Georgia?).Delila's maiden name was Moore. Who would be able to help me with these questions. Delila, through Indiana Burke, was my great great grandmother. Thank you so much in advance. I live at 15 Grovenor Court, Dallas, TX 75225.

This query was originally posted in 1999. Would like to try again. My great-great grandfather was John R. BLEDSOE, who lived in Benton/Calhoun County beginning between 1830-1840 and ending sometime between 1860-1870, when he and his wife Nancy moved to Talladega County. I have been told that John was a Justice of the Peace between 1856 and 1860 and have found him listed in marriage records as the JP who performed the ceremony. Would there be any records of John R. BLEDSOE concerning his duties as JP or maybe even a document with his signature? Used to live in Madison County, AL. Any help would be appreciated. I am perfectly willing to pay any fees, etc. Sincerely, Paul Bledsoe, Prairieville, Louisiana.

Need help trying to find first name of GGGgrandfather. Last name WRIGHT, wife Elizabeth. She is on the 1840 and 1850 Benton County Census. Daughter Margaret? was born about 1839 in Alabama(probably Benton County). This means that ____ WRIGHT probably died in Benton County in the 1838- 1839 timeframe. Would anyone know how I could get access to any death/cemetery records that far back? Where would these records be??What county? I am not asking for anyone to do the research, just any ideas that you may have that could help me. Thanks Richard Wright Suwanee, Georgia

Need an obit. look up for Edward ALLEN of Calhoun County. I think he died around 1875 because his daughter, Mary ALLEN brought suit against her brother, Spartan ALLEN and his two children that year when they tried to take her father's house away from her. (she won). Her other brothers, Memory and John ALLEN, testified on her behalf. Edward was b. in 1784 in either PA or NC depending on which census you look at. Hoping that the obit will also say where he was buried. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Sincerely, Cathy Pickard

DOYAL--In the 1900 cesnus for Calhoun County, there is a Peter DOYAL living on Church Street. He was born about 1845 in GA, has wife Isabel and eight children ages 21 down to 2. There is a Louis, born about 1885. My ancestor, Hardy DOYAL died in Jackson Co.AL in 1834, but in the 1840 census of Jackson County there is a Lewis DOYAL, HOH and next door a Nancy DOYAL, HOH. We believe the widow is in Walker Co. GA by 1840--but Nancy could be his widow. We know nothing of Lewis/Louis, but find this given name in several other family records. We know two of Hardy's sons by this last marriage, Edward Clark DOYAL and Joseph Calaway DOYAL. Via the 1830 census, there were also 3 daughters, but we have no record of two and just a hint about a third. We are trying to connect with others of this surname. We spell it DOYAL, and most of our kin back to Hardy use this spelling, however DOYLE,DOYEL, AND DOYELL sometimes appear. Any help appreciated. Jeanne Park

This is an update... Searching for my WRIGHT ancestors. In the 1850 Benton County census, there was an Elizabeth WRIGHT(51f Born Ga.) as head of household. Living with her was C. WRIGHT(27m Born Ga.), W. WRIGHT(18m Born Ga.) and M. WRIGHT(14f Born Ga.) Unfortunately, the census-taker only used initials for the children, but I believe the W. WRIGHT to be Winfield WRIGHT, my GGgrandfather. This WRIGHT family was in Benton County prior to 1850 and Elizabeth was the HOH then. Elizabeth was born in Ga. and one of her daughters was born in Ala. in 1839. That means the 'Unknown father' was there in the 1838-1839 timeframe. I would greatly appreciate any help that could be provided. You can contact me direct at my e-mail. Thanks, Richard Wright vnrwright1@earthlink.net Suwanee, Georgia
