Searching for marriage record of a James WILLIAMS who married Emaline "Emily" who? I'm searching for info on a James Williams who ended up in Madison County, Al. in 1870. Census records show a James Williams in Benton County, Al. in 1850. I find James & Emly in St. Clair County, Al. in 1860 but could not find him there in 1870 so he moved on to Madison County, Al? He had 11 children in 1870. Several of the children's names seem to match closely with with Francis M. b: 1854-1856, Selina "Lina" b: 1847-1850, Ruth 1857-1859 & Eliza/Louisa b: 1852 to March 1850 Al. I believe them to be my ancestors and would like to hear from anyone related to our family. My ancestress was Eliza/Louisa Williams who married John G. WILLBANKS. We are researching our family in Calhoun, Dallas, Clay and Randolph County areas (mostly Calhoun County). The surnames we have identified as being connected with so far include: SMALL, BAGBY, HAMMOND, WILLIAMSON and DOTHARD. It appears the family has been in the area at least since 1830-50's. The cities in Calhoun County that they inhabited were Iron City, Anniston,Township 16 of Calhoun Co,Wesobulga, Lexington, White Plains and Louina. Family members we are most interested in learning more about and connecting with other related family are decendants of: Frank & Minnie Williamson, Sam Williamson (Township 16 of Calhoun County), Jessie Williamson of White Plains, Joseph Small and Harriet Williamson Small of White Plains, William (Will) & Mattie Small of Calhoun County, Parilee Bagby Hammond and Whitt Hammond, Frank Bagby. Also noted that place of internment for some family members show as located in Choccolocco, but have not been able to identify any of the family names on the online cemetary listings. Does anyone know the names of other cemetaries that are not published online for Choccolocco? Thanks for any help.

Sarah A. PUTMAN married Rufus WHEELER 6 October 1849. She is listed back home with her parents in the Hiram PUTMAN household as a widow on the 1850 Benton (Calhoun)County, Alabama census. My paternal ggrandmother, Sarah A. WHEELER, born in Cleburne County, Alabama, married Abselom KEITH January 13, 1856 in Carroll County, Georgia. Their son, William Clayton KEITH was born in Cleburne County, Alabama in 1866. In 1869 Abselom KEITH married Nancy BULLARD, so either Sarah died or they divorced. Abselom lived in Jefferson County, Alabama during the later years of his life. One family story is that Sarah A. WHEELER KEITH is buried on the banks of the Tennessee River. I have been searching for information on Sarah A. WHEELER for several years now and I wonder if Sarah A. PUTMAN who married Rufus WHEELER could have married Abselom KEITH after Rufus WHEELER'S death. Any bit of information will be so appreciated.

I am decended from their son Robert Cornellius Watson (1883-1975) who was married to Anna Lockridge. The informaton on Anna Lockridge is very sketchy. I have a delayed birth certificate that was done late in her life and the date of birth is uncertian. The information was provided by my great-grandfather, as she was ill. Her parents and the location of her birth are unknown. It is known that the family came from South Carolina, to Georgia, then settled in Piedmont. From there their children spread to the Hokesbluff and Gadsden area. Any information on the Lockridge and Watson's would be greatly appreciated. As we are now a military family, I began this project to give my children a since of their family and history. Thank you! K. Goriup

About 4 years ago, there was a site that had photocopies that could be downloaded of wills deeds and other documents. I had been researching James WOOD (Woods) who lived in Benton County (Calhoun) in the late 1830s. I have tried to locate these photocopies of documents signed by James WOOD (WOODS). It is important to find these documents in which James Wood signed his name as James WOODS. I have established the connection pretty clearly to the WOODS of Franklin County Tennessee. But at the time of the death of James WOOD in 1839, it appears that his descendants dropped the S and the subsequent generations use the surname WOOD. Does anyone have knowledge of a site in which copies of the hand written documents of early Benton County can be viewed and downloaded?

I am seeking information on my grandmother Elsie Helton born Feb. 12,1885,in Waco, Haralson County, Georgia in Waco, Haralson County. Also I am searchng for her mother Sallie Meharg and her father John Anthony Helton.Sallie died whenElsie was just a chid.John Helton left Sallie Twith William Monroe Harrell and John went to Oklahoma where he struck it rich in the oil fields according to his will filed in 1922 in Bristow, Creek County, Olahoma. In the meantime William Harrell's wife Sallie died and he married Elsie who was then 16 years old on Oct. 21,1901 in Alexandria, Calhoun County,Ala.William died Nov. 13, 1925. William and Elsie had 8 children, one of whom was my father,Eusry Herschel Harrell,bornSept.8,1913. William was buried at Bethel Cemetery at Peaks Hill in Calhoun County. Because William had fought in the Confederacy, he was entitled to a Confedarate monument, but no one had ever bothered to get one for him even though they were free. In the late 190's my husband and I ordered one; my niece Terry Jennings and her friend Rex Gay put it at hs grave. This story gets more interesting. After John Helton went to Oklahoma, he married his secondwife,Roxie (maiden name unknown); they became the parents of three chidren. When John wrote his will in 1922, he made provision for Elsie as well as for Roxie and her children. He also made provision for a nephew.,H. Rabun. The assetsfom the land formed the following amount between 1922 and 1924.

I would appreciate any information on a CHAPPELL family who lived in Calhoun County, Alabama, in 1860. ISAAC CHAPPELL (sp. Chapell on census), was 68 yrs old - not found in any census in 1870. He was b. abt 1791 in SC. Since the 1850 census (Newton Co, GA), two maiden ladies lived with him - Mary and Frances CHAPPELL. Their ages vary widely but guessing b. anywhere from 1815-1820. In the 1850 census of Newton Co, GA, 17-yr-old Alcy/Alsy Chappell lived in this household. She was my 2nd great-grandmother. Also living in Newton Co, GA, in 1850 was my 2nd great grandfather, Samuel Hutchison "Hutch" FOSTER, b. 1823 in Abbeville, SC. He and Alcy Chappell married in Carroll Co, GA, in 1853. Both the Isaac CHAPPELL family, and the Samuel FOSTER (under HUTCHISON FOSTER) were living in Calhoun County, AL, in 1860. Samuel Foster later lived and died in Etowah County, AL, but Alcy died sometime after the birth of my great-grandmother, probably before 1870. I'm wondering what happened to the Isaac CHAPPELL family, and since the last place they are found is in Calhoun County, they may be buried there. However, since the Civil War happened during this decade, and many families were dispossessed, there is no telling where they died. There was only one Chappell family in Calhoun County in 1870, and the head of household was Benjamin CHAPPELL. No connection that I have been able to find. Are there any CHAPPELL families in Calhoun County who might know something of Isaac or Mary or Frances?

Searching for ANY info on Marion Hilton HURST, or Otis Hurst. Particularly would like to hear from whoever posted a query on these people back in 2004. I have REPEATEDLY tried to access the web site 'cousinconnection.com' where the query appears when I search, but the site is unavailable. Marion Hilton Hurst, from Anniston AL, was married to my aunt, Sandy (Hilda Cecelia) and they had children, Philip Randall, Michael Brandon and Kevin Lee. These are my cousins. I have been searching for them for years. I HAVE found Kevin. But no word on Randy and Michael, except that whoever posted the query in 2004 looking for info on Marion Hilton Hurst MUST be either Randy or Michael. So, guys, where are you? Also, anyone who ever knew Hilton HURST in Anniston, pelase contact me. thanks
