HOLLINGSWORTH I am trying to find the parents of John T. Hollingsworth born about 1785 in Virginia so he states on the census, and he died intestate April 30, 1865 in Benton now Calhoun County, Alabama. John T. Hollingsworth first appears on the 1820 Census of Pendleton, SC 4,1,-,-,1,-,1,1,1,-,-,2 (the next line William Hollingsworth appears 2,-,-,1,-,-,1,-,1,-,-,1). The 1830 Census of Pendleton, SC John is still there, but William has moved away. John Hollinsworth 1,1,2,2,2,-,1,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,2,-,-,1,- ,-,-,-,-,-. John T. Hollingsworth bought land on Six Mile Creek in Pickens, SC 1824 from William and Ruth Oliver. He sold the land to William Crenshaw 15 Oct 1834 and this is when we find that his wife is Susanna. It was probably then that he went to Benton now Calhoun County, Alabama where he appears on the 1840 Census there. John Hollinsworth -,-,3,2,-,-,-,1,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,1,-,-,-,---. John and Susannah appear on the 1850 Benton now Calhoun County, Alabama. Both state that they were born in Virginia. Now we have a possible birth year for Susannah as 1787, but Susannah died between 1850 and 1854. John T. marries Mary Watson on 22 August 1854 in Calhoun County, Alabama. When John T. dies, his son James R. becomes administrator of his estate. Land is stated as E1/2 of SE1/4 of Section 25 Township 14 Route 8. Heirs are his children: Wesley Hall Hollingsworth (deceased) married Susan Lee Mary married Wyley Glover William married Nancy (Glover) Phillips James R. married Elizabeth Sullivan Susan married William Bonds Harrison married Anna Oliver Samuel A. married Arvenzina Burke John married Sydney Lee (niece of Susan Lee above) Charles Canada married Elizabeth Riggs Warren G. married Sarah Riggs I have much more information to share. Please contact if you can help.

I need someone who has access to the 1907 Alabama Census of Confederate Soldiers to clear up some contradictory info published by two different people from that census. I am interested in one SIMON STRICKLAND of Cleburne County, who in a book published by The Gregath Company showing the 1907 Census, is shown as being born in Buchanan in Haralson County, Ga. but in the same census published in Settlers of Northeast Alabama is shown being born in Decalb? County, Ga. There is no mention of Buchanan in the second source. If someone could please check the actual 1907 census records and verify what it says for SIMON STRICKLAND I would be eternally grateful.

WADE. Need help please regarding my gg grandfather, Marion WADE. I thought I'd found where and when he died from a death certificate. But there isn't much to be gained from this except that he died in Calhoun County on 2/26/1919. The handwriting is difficult to read, but I believe he is buried in Mt. Carmel Cemetery near a town by the name of Rud... or Redw... The undertaker was Clark. Is anyone familiar with this cemetery or town? Also, I was thinking about a possible obituary. Where would I go to get a copy? Thank you.

Looking for information relating to Andy/Albert WILLIAMS and possible marriage to Sara RILEY around 1859. They lived in what is now Cleburne County, just over the state line from Esom Hill, GA. I believe that would have been Calhoun county in 1859- 60?? The only wife we know of is Nicie PENCE, but I recently obtained a death certificate for one of Andy's sons stating his mother was Sara RILEY. The informant was a granddaughter of Andy's and probably was in a position to know the truth. Anybody out there know of these people? Was Nicie a second marriage? Thanks in advance.

Carol B. Miller Wed Jun 25 17:21:15 2003
I am looking for information on Drury Miller b 1822 Tn who married Julia Long b 1832 Al. I found a reference to a couple with this name at the LDS site, but it said they were married in 1874 in Anniston, Calhoun County Al, and that Julia was born in 1853. The couple I am looking for were living in Pickens Co Alabama in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses. Julia is buried in the New Bethany Cemetery there. Any information on this couple would be greatly appreciated.
