I am in search of a YEAROUT who lived in Anniston, Calhoun County, 1930. There are several drawbacks here, the first name would be either Mary born TN, 1893 or Elzie Irene born TN, 1900. Of course her maiden name changes to a name I have no idea of, probably prior to migration to Annniston. Just on a hunch that perhaps someone may have seen this surname in a marriage or death index, or even better living kin of Yearout. I do have lots of info I will freely share and want to track down this last living daughter of my Great Uncle badly. I have had fairly god luck with much less infomation then this, so perhaps someone will be able to share something. It is OK to post direct to me; zandalee48@yahoo.com Many thanks for any help. Carolyn Riddle- Chapin Mon Nov 17 21:23:30 2003
RIDDLE, JONES, RUSK, BAKER, SEAY, HEIFNER, CALDWELL?, CHISM? On Harmony Baptist Church cemetery records in Choccolocco,Alabama, I noticed the names Lurline RIDDLE and Mary RIDDLE. Who was Lurline Riddle? Who was Mary Riddle? Mary Alice JONES, wife of Howard Gibson RIDDLE, Sr., was my grandmother. Her name is indexed as Mary Alice RIDDLE. Howard's and her daughter Mary Gibson RIDDLE is buried there and is indexed as Mary Gibson RIDDLE. According to the death certificate, my great aunt Mary "Mamie" RIDDLE SEAY was buried in Oxford, therefore I know this Mary RIDDLE is not her. Could this Mary Riddle have been my great, great grandfather John RIDDLE's first wife? My great, great grandmother, his only wife that I am aware of, was Sara Alice HEIFNER, but mid to late 1800s Clay County records in Ashland show that a John W. RIDDLE, son of Gideon RIDDLE and Rebecca CALDWELL, was born about 1845 and married Mary Unknown about 1865. On the 1870 Clay County census, John W. is shown with Mary; E. F. RIDDLE, born 1866; L. R. RIDDLE, born 1867 and Anna S. RIDDLE, born 1869. My John W. RIDDLE was father of Jason RIDDLE who owned 1,000 acres in Choccolocco from Choccolocco Creek to highway 78, formerly owned by Peter HEIFNER. He was brother to Gussie RIDDLE, who married Dr. C. Ross BAKER. They lived in DeArmanville and were neighbors to Dewey Hughes. Mary "Mamie" RIDDLE was married to Unknown Seay. Was my John W. RIDDLE's wife, Sara Alice HEIFNER, Peter's daughter or granddaughter? Jason's wife was Sarah Launa RUSK. The Rusks, Rhodes and Heifners were intermarried, so some of them are my cousins. John W. RIDDLE shows up about 1880 on the Calhoun County census in this area (PO Corn Grove, Iron City, or Choccolocco on census from 1840 to 1930) The Calhoun County Riddle Farm was located on highway 78 East (on Riddle Farm Road). Solving this "riddle" may supply verification that John W. was son of Gideon RIDDLE and Rebecca CALDWELL and enable me to extend our line further. I also wonder why the names Howard, Gibson, Gordon, and John Wesley were so commonly used in our family line? Quaker tradition passed down from much farther up the line perhaps? So many questions. I greatly appreciate any and all information, positive or negative.
