Organized old circuit and county court loose papers, some back to 1854; These
   papers are in file cabinets in the Old Records Room at the courthouse
Raised funds for these projects:
   Complete set of The Heritage of Alabama books, at Choctaw Co. Public Library
   New microfilm reader-printer placed in the county library 2006

A small loosely organized society, individuals pursue favorite projects:

   Sarah Mozingo and CCGS members produced these books in the past:
      Index to Wills and Index to Divorces
   Sandra Jenkins Little, who lives in Mobile, produced Index to White Marriages
   Frances Bush Houlditch works on extracting names and information from county newspapers called "Digging up the past". She has some of these books for sale.
      Pete Allen specializes in military records.
      David Snow helps hunt genealogical information from internet requests.
      Ann H. Gay continues compiling and organizing information, mainly before 1900.
Gay has several compilations of black as well as white names.

      The late Mary Ellen Tindle, whose book on Choctaw Co. cemeteries was published in 1988, has information on her own family lines and other families in other parts of the country. Her step-son J. D. Tindle wanted the papers placed where they would benefit the public. Her information was organized and placed in the Tindle-Morris file cabinet in the county library.
      J. D. Tindle is in charge of the LDS records in the church right next to his home on Highway 17 South of Butler near Toxey.
