McDONALD
From: Diane Chandler
Date: 5 May 2007
I am looking for any information available on John R. McDonald, born May 1899 in McNairy Co., TN and moved into Sheffield and surrounding areas between 1900-1910. His father was James E. McDonald and his mother was Lucinda Unknown-McDonald. Lucinda died somewhere during the interim between 1900-1905 and her children were moved to Alabama to be near relatives.
In the 1910 Census of Colbert Co., AL, Sheffield Ward 5, Dist. 18, John McDonald, aged 20 and born in TN is listed as the head of the household with three younger sisters living within the household. His occupation was a blacksmith in a railroad shop. The younger sisters where Lula, who later married Arthur E. Jackson; Ellen, who later married Joe T. Dhority; and Ollie of whom I know little.
If you have information on this family, I would be most grateful to exchange emails with you. John is the half-brother to my grandfather, James Herbert McDonald, born 1908 in Hardeman Co., TN and the child of James E. McDonald’s second marriage to Nancy Victoria K. Allen. However, James died sometime between the time Nancy became pregnant with Herbert and the time of his birth on 18 Dec 1908.
Thank you in advance to anyone who may be able to help me.
