SAXTON-ADAMS, The 1860 census
of BUTLER Co. lists S.S. SAXTON and his wife ANNA and 3 children, obviously
SANFORD SAXTON's by a previous marriage, as the census states they were
married within in the year, and since ANNA's age is listed as 21 yrs, she
is too young to be the mother. Sanford is listed as a laborer on the Railroad
and apparently lives in
a rail road camp with several other workers, one
of whom is ELIJAH ADAMS, believed to be a relative, possibly the father
of ANNA ADAMS SAXTON. In the 1880 census ELIJAH ADAMS is living in CONECUH

these families appreciated. Would also like to hear from any one who has
knowledge of the railroad, where it went from BUTLER Co., and where it
was before. Thank you.

probably born in Marion Co., AL circa 1842. In 1850, she is listed as Sarah
G., age 8 and living with family in Chickasaw Co., MS (p. 314). In 1860,
she is missing from the family on p. 34 of the Itawamba Co., MS census.
Her mother's pension application contains an affidavit cosigned by Mrs.
Sarah J. JAMES, her daughter, of Conecuh Co., AL on 14 July 1884. Any further
info. would be greatly appreciated. I have some info. I can share on DYKES
and HOWELL, but would appreciate more on this, too.

Joseph F. OLIVER, 29, b.
AL was listed in the 1860 census as a teacher. Listed also was Martha,
26, b. AL; Georgiana, 5; Catherine, 18; and Frances, 8. Joseph was most
likely the son of John and Elizabeth (Phelps) OLIVER; Catherine and Frances
were orphans of Joseph and Mary Oliver of Conecuh. In Sept. 1863, Martha
Ann OLIVER, widow of Joseph (who was in Co. H, 23rd AL Inf.) filed a claim
for a pension. Does anyone know what became of Martha and Georgiana OLIVER?
