JESSIE ETHERIDGE "MAMA TURK" TURK
Jessie Etheridge Turk " Mama Turk" --age 104 , passed away on March
24, 2004 in Mobile , Alabama , her home for 45 years. Mrs Turk was a native
of Uriah, al., and was born on January 23,1900. She was the daughter of
Joseph Cas and Emma Etheridge, who preceded her. She is also preceded in
death by her husband Caleb L. Turk, a son Mabry Turk, granddaughter, Amanda
Ellis Henderson, and her father, Townsend Ellis. Mrs. Turk was an inspiration
and blessing to everyone she met. Mama Turk was a wonde4rful cook and always
enjoyed company in her home. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and
was loved by her large family and many friends. She is survived by two
sons, Charles L. Turk, Uriah , Al. an Billy D. Turk and wife , Mary Ann,
Panama City. Fl.; eight daughters , Sarah Senterfitt, DeFuniak Springs,
Fl. , Catherine Louise Holt, Mobile, Ala. irene Massingill, Chickasaw,
Al. Doris McGahagen and husband , John, Hawkensville, Ga., Louquin Earl-Hendrix,
Carriere, Ms., Rebecca Chavers and husband, William, Mobile, Al. JoAnn
Cooke, Atlanta, Ga., and Rose Marie Ellis-Mulanax, Mobile, Al., twenty
seven grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren , eleven great, great
grandchildren; a sister0-in-law, Pat Etheridge; and numerous nieces and
nephews. Mrs. Turk was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Mobile
and the Order of Eastern Star. The family will receive friends at Radney
Funeral Home-Dauphin St., on Friday, march 26, 2004 from 5:00 p. m. untill
9:00 p.m. . Funeral Services will be held on Saturday , March 27, 2004
at 10:00 A.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 12:00 noon at Poplar Springs
Church Childrens' Shriner Hospital. Funeral arrangements by Radney Funeral
