My name is Carolyn Golowka and I am the coordinator for Crenshaw County.  I have many no direct ties to Crenshaw County but to some of the neighboring counties. Feel free to contact me if you can help add information to this site or have any comments or if a link is broken.  I don't live in Alabama, so I can't do look-ups except as listed in the look-ups section.

Crenshaw was established by an act passed November 24, 1865, and the territory was taken from Butler, Pike, Lowndes, Coffee and Covington. It is in the south center of the State, and lies south of Montgomery, west of Pike and Coffee, north of Covington, and east of Butler.  It was named for the Honorable Anderson Crenshaw of Butler.  Rutledge was the original county seat.  In 1893, the county people voted to make Luverne the county seat and proceeded to build a courthouse there.
