HARRIS

Looking for HARRIS family members from DallasCounty, AL. My great grandfather, James Henry Harris, was living in Selma,AL at the time of the Civil War when he joined the Confederate Army.

This was taken from "The Confederate Veteran"Vol.XVII, No. 6, June/1909, page 291:

"James Henry Harris was born inSelma, Ala., in January, 1842; and died April 15, 1909, at Tullahoma, TN. He was a faithful soldier of the Confederacy and a member of the PierceB. Anderson Camp, U.C.V.  Comrade Harris was widely and well knownfor many years as a conductor on the N.C.&St.L. Railway.  Mr.Harris leaves a wife and six children.  The interment was at OakwoodCemetery in Tullahoma with U.C.V. Ceremonies."

He was supposedly living with an "Uncle Jim" Harris?(according to my grandmother's diary), who owned a general/dry goods storein Selma at the time of the Civil War. He had a sister named LIZZIE HARRIS.

Looking for connections to any HARRIS family whomay have come from Jackson Co.,AL (Scottsboro) - in particular, possiblya connection to PAGE HARRIS who is connected to the WILLIAMS family whocame from North Carolina to Jackson County in 1819. So far, the only JamesHARRIS I can find on a census in Alabama is Jackson County, 1850, son ofGideon HARRIS.
