Brown, 26, United States Army, was killed in action in France Aug. 25, according to telegraphic word received from the War Department Monday night by his wife, Mrs. Jean Meador Brown, 144 Rosemont Garden, Lexington, Ky. Attached to an armored unit, Sgt. Brown, who had the rating of technician fourth grade, has been overseas 20 months. he had taken part in the Tunisian campaign, the Sicilian invasion and the French invasion., He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Brown of Mentone, Ala., and was born at Valley Head, Ala. He was a graduate of Valley Head High school, class of 1937. After graduation until time of induction in the army he was employed by Wm. R. Moore Co., of Memphis Tennessee. He entered service Nov. 27, 1941, joining the Second Armored Division at Fort Benning and later taking the radio operator's course at Fort Knox. he went overseas after maneuvers in North Carolina.
