DeKalb County ALGENWEB The Fort Payne Journal Fort Payne, Alabama Wednesday, July 20, 1949 Page 1 HEYMAN BROWN Heyman Brown, 54, of Valley Head, Rt. 1, passed away Tuesday, July 12, in a veterans hospital near Atlanta. He was born at Sulphur Springs and spent his entire life there except for the time spent in the service in World War I. He was a charter member of the American Legion Post No. 39, of Valley Head, and a post commander. He had professed a hope in Christ and was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Being a fellow who always tried to do the right thing, his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He will be greatly missed in his community. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Flora Smith Brown; two aunts, Miss Emily Brown and Mrs. Alice Murphy, of Sulphur Springs, and other relatives. Funeral services were held on Thursday morning at the Sulphur Springs Church with Rev. Claude Parker officiating. Pallbearers were Glenn Gravitt, Lucian McGee, J. T. Green, R. E. Smith, Bill Ellis, Albert Ellis, Cecil Smith and Hobert Weldon. Interment was in the Sulphur Springs cemetery with McBryan Funeral Home in charge.
