PFC. HERMAN M. FANT
We were grieved when the message came that on Oct. 24, 1945, Mack had met the Death Angel in the war-torn country. We were looking forward to his return to America to be with mother and loved ones once again, but now we are awaiting the glad reunion in Heaven so fair.
We know his battles had been bravely fought and we cannot imagine his lonely hours spent so far from home. Yet in a vision we see how happy he was when the firing ceased for then he believed he would soon be home. He was patiently awaiting his turn to board the ship homeward and still doing what he could to give freedom to you and me when the accident occurred and he was called to Heaven.
He is not dead; only sleeping. some day we will join him in peace and joy. Until then may our hearts not yearn for him here, and only be as patient as he was.
This is the picture of the graveyard where Herman was working at his death in Holland, and also his picture. He was called home a year ago. May God bless me and my family till we meet him in Heaven's sweet home.
Mother, Fannie Gilbert.
