Blaine W., Gravitt was killed in action in Luxembourg on January 11th, according to a telegram from the War Department to next of kin. He had been reported missing in action for a few days previously. He was the son of the late W. J. Gravitt and Mrs. Gravitt of Coillinsville. he attended DeKalb High School and Collinsville High School, graduating from the latter. he entered the service in January 1943 and had been overseas since November. He was 22 years old. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lorene Gravitt, Molton, Ala.; his mother, Mrs. W. J. Gravitt, Collinsville; two brother, Glenn and Byron, both in the army; two sisters, Mrs. Ione Brooks, Fort Payne; and Mrs. L. H. Norris, Virginia. The many friends of this family extend their deepest sympathy to them.
