Woolum, 30, of Fort Payne, who was killed June 5, 1945, in the Philippines, will be held Saturday, Aug. 28 at 2:30 p.m., at the Second Baptist Church with the Fort Payne Post 3128 V.F.W. and National Guard Co. C. 151st Combat Engineers in charge and the Rev. Frank E. Bowman and Rev. Sid Windsor officiating. Herman Gibson and Sam Kelley will serve as honor guards. Active pallbearers will be Glen Earl Parker, Johnnie Newsome, Erskin McCurdy, L. Whaley, Carl Ramsey and M-Sgt. Morris E. Carkal. Pvt. Woolum was born in Jackson County but had lived most of his life in Fort Payne where he attended school. He entered service July 28, 1943, and went overseas Dec. 12, 1944. He fought on Leyte, Luzon and the Philippines. He is survived by his parent, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Woolum, Fort Payne; one brother, Mack Woolum, Fort Payne. Burial will be in Glenwood cemetery with Wilson Funeral Home in charge. The body will arrive in fort Payne Friday night, Aug. 27 at 5:46 and wil be carried to the home of his parents where it will remain until the hour of the service.
