Eleventh day of November A.D. One thousand Eight hundred and fifty
personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for the
County and State aforesaid, LEWIS CROW
aged sixty years a resident of
the County of Fayette and State aforesaid who being duly sworn
according to law, declares that he is the identical LEWIS CROW who was
a private in the company commanded by Captain
LEMIAH [sic] GARISON in
the
Georgia Regiment of Malitia commanded by Colonel BOOTH and Col. GROVES
in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th
day of June 1812 / that he enlisted at Jefferson, Jackson County,
Georgia
on or about the middle of September AD 1814 for the term of six months
and continued in actual service in said war for the term of six months,
and was honorably discharged at Camp Hope in Georgia on or about the
25th day of April AD 1815 as will appear by the muster roll of said
company. Affiant states that he has lost or mislayed his
discharge. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining
the bounty land
to which he may be entitled under the "Act granting bounty land to
certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military
service of the United States" passed September 28, 1850.

file in this Office, that LEWIS CROW a
Private of Captain N. GARRISON'S Company of Georgia Militia entered the
service on the 21st November 1814 for 6 mo. and served till the 6th of
May 1815.

On this 22 day of October A.D.
one thousand eight hundred and fifty
five personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace within and
for the county and state aforesaid CATHARINE
CROW aged 59 years 25 last
June, a resident of Fayette County in the State of Alabama, who being
duly sworn according to law declared she is the Widow of LEWIS CROW
deceased who was a private in the company commanded by Captain LEMIAH
GARRISON in the Georgia Regiment of drafted militia; she does not
recollect the Colonel's name-in the war with Great Britain declared by
the United States on the 18 day of June 1812; that her said husband was
drafted in Hall County, Georgia or Jackson County on or about the month
of December A.D. 1814 for the term of six months and continued in
actual service in said-war for the term of five months as well as she
can state and was honorably discharged at Mobile, Alabama on or about
the first of May A.D. 1815.
She further states that she
was
married to the said LEWIS CROW in Jackson County, Georgia on the forth
day of February AD 1817 by one JAMES
LIDDLE a Justice of the Peace and
that her name before her said marriage was CATHARINE WRIGHT; that her
said husband died in Fayette County, Alabama on the 27th day of May AD
1855 and that she is now a widow. She states that there is no
public or
private record kept of said marriage as she knows. She makes this
declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she
may be entitled under the act approved March 3d, 1855.

We, HOGAN YERBY and WILLIAM
STRICKLAND residents of Fayette County in the State of Alabama,
upon
our oaths declare that the foregoing declaration was signed and
acknowledged by CATHARINE CROW in our presence and that we believe from
the appearance and statements of the applicant that she is the
identical person she represents herself to be. And we further
state on
oath that we were acquainted with LEWIS CROW, the husband of the
applicant in his lifetime, that said LEWIS CROW and the applicant
CATHARINE CROW lived and cohabited together as man and wife, and were
so reputed in the community where they lived. And that we have
been
acquainted with them for a great many years and during all that time
they lived together as man and wife and we have no doubt but that they
were lawfully married. We further state on oath that LEWIS CROW
died
about the time mentioned in the aforesaid declaration and that
CATHARINE CROW the affiant is still a widow.

eighteen hundred and
seventy two personally appeared before me, B.W. WILSON Judge of the
Probate Court of the County of Fayette & state aforesaid, a court
of Record in and for the County and State aforesaid, KATHARINE CROW
aged 77 seventy seven years, a resident of the County of Fayette &
State of Alabama who being duly sworn according to law, declares that
she is the Widow of LEWIS CROW deceased who served the full period of
sixty days in the (1) service of the United States in the War of 1812
and who was the identical LEWIS CROW who (2) was a volunteer in Captain
NEHEMIAH GARRISON's Company, at Jefferson C.H., Georgia, 1814 and was
honorably discharged at Mobile, Ala. April 1815; that (3) He was a
private, my
recollection is that he was under Col.
BLACSTOCK. In his lifetime he
received land warrant for Eighty acres No 27752 the place he enlisted
at was in Jackson County, Georgia at Jefferson Court House. That
she
was married under the name of KATHARINE WRIGHT to said LEWIS CROW on
the fourth day of February AD 1815 or 1816 at her father's house in
Jackson County, Ga.; there being no legal barrier to such marriage;
that her said husband died in Fayette County, Alabama on the
seventeenth day of May 1855 and that she has not remarried since his
death; that at no time during the late rebellion against the authority
of the United States did she or her said husband adhere to the cause of
the enemies of the Government, giving them aid or comfort or exercised
the functions of any office whatever under any authority etc. that her
post office is at Fayette C.H., Ala. County of Fayette, Fayette
County.

hundred and Eighty three, personally appeared before me, HOLLAND M.
BELL, the same being a court of record within and for the county
and
state aforesaid (1) MARY A. CROW
a resident of the County of Fayette in
the State of Alabama aged 47 years, who being duly sworn according to
law makes the following declaration in order to obtain the bounty land
provided by Acts of Congress for minor children; who says that she is
the only [surviving] legal (2) legitimate child of (3) LEWIS CROW who
was the
identical LEWIS CROW who served under the name of LEWIS CROW as a (4)
private in the company commanded by Captain N. GARRISON in the Georgia
Regiment of Malitia; whose services terminated in said war for the
reason of (9) the said LEWIS CROW died in Fayette Co., Ala. on the 29th
day of May A.D. 1855. That he left his widow surviving him (12)
who
died 19th January 1880; that the above named are [sic] the only
surviving
child of said LEWIS CROW the issue of said soldier, the date of her
birth (by said KATHARINE) being MARY A. CROW borned 29 June 1836; that
applicant was borned in Hall Co., Ga. & moved with father &
mother in the year 1837 to Fayette Co., Ala. where she now resides
& have so resided for forty six years ... Post office address is
Fayette C.H., Fayette Co., Ala.
THOMAS RAY,
aged 38 years, residing at Fayette C.H., Ala. & JAMES C. YERBY aged
40 years, residing at Fayette C.H., Ala. say they were present and saw
MARY A. CROW sign her name, and that MARY A. CROW
is the only heir of LEWIS CROW. Said applicant is the Daughter of
said
LEWIS CROW deceased, we knew said LEWIS CROW from our earliest
recollection to the day of his death and also said applicant from our
earliest recollection to the present. 24 August 1883.
