The Petition of John S. MOORE
an inhabitant of this State & Co
represents to the Court that Wm Moore departed this life intestate
about 26th Nov 1871 leaving property in this State & Co of
about the value of one thousand dollars & most probable more / your
petitioner is the son of the dec'd / that the names of the heirs are as
follows / Jefferson MOORE who
resides in the state of Texas Guadaloupe
Co / Arena REED who resides
in Tuscaloosa Co / Thos MOORE
who resides
in Tuscaloosa Co / your petitioner & James MOORE who resides in
Fayette Co Ala all of whom are of age / wherefore your petitioner prays
that letters of administration
may be granted to him according to law by him giving the necessary bond
as Sworn & subscribed
before me this 23rd Dec 1871

Know all men by these presents that we John S Moore / SH DARDEN & Ellis LOGAN are held and
firmly bound unto BW Wilson Judge of the
Probate Court of said County and his successors in office in the penal
sum of Two thousand dollars for the same (?) payment of which we
bind ourselves our [sic] and each of our heirs executors administrators
and assigns jointly severally and firmly sealed with our seals and
dated
this 23rd day of Dec 1871 / The condition of the above obligation is
such that whereas the above bound John S Moore was on the 23rd day of
Dec 1871 duly appointed administrator on the estate of Wm Moore
deceased / now should the said John S. Moore well and faithfully
discharge the duties which now are or maybe hereafter required of him
by law as such admin then in the [sic] that case the above obligation
to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue taken and
approved (?) the 23 day of Dec 1871
