This particular B.F. PRICE — there were two who lived
contemporaneously in
Fayette County — was born 1830 in Dallas Co., AL,
fought for the
Confederate army, and received a federal land grant near the
present
Lamar-Fayette county line.

of
Benjamin F. Price & Mary Ann Adams
(circa
1940)
W.S.R.
Price
(a/k/a Will Price, "Catfish"
Price) lived in Fayette County for many years.
At one time, he manufactured Price's Table Syrup. He
also owned a
restaurant and would stand outside
loudly announcing, "CATFISH, HOT CATFISH!" (an early form of
advertising). This supposedly is how he got his
nickname.
In later years, he walked the streets selling peanuts and
sno-cones.
