Hello!
I am looking for information on my g-grandfather
- William Whitt (Whitfield?) Tanner.
I am not sure where he was born, but lived in the Alabama area during
the
late 1800s then moved to Oklahoma at the turn of the century. He
married
Josephine Lewis in
Alabama and they
had 13 children. He died about 1907 in Oklahoma and his wife
remairried
(perhaps for the third time) to a Holloway.
If this sounds familiar, please contact me. MRasins@juno.com

Hi,
I too am a TANNER
descendant. My Tanner, was John
Willis born in 1790 either GA. or N.C.
I have seen reference to both places. He came from Wilkerson Co.
GA. when
the Governor of GA. issued him a passport to travel safely through the
Indian Lands to the Mississippi Territory (now North Pascagoula,
MS). I
keep all material on Tanner's and share whatever I get with other
Tanner's
if there is a connection. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Melba Goff Allen,

Looking
for information on John
W. BARNETT b 9/1836
in GA and appears
on the 1900 census with his wife Sarah.
They appear to be the parents of Holly

in the Clear Creek section. Any info on these folks would be
appreciated.
Any info on Clear Creek also helpful. Why would a family uproot
to move
there? Was there any mining in the area.

My
gggfather was said to have been John
MOORE, no vital
statistics known, who married my gggmother c.
1870. Her name was either Love Day LEWIS
or Love Day TACKETT,
b. abt. 1855 in
Fayette Co., AL. They had three sons: George Washington
MOORE, b.1872 in Fayette Co., d.1918 in Panola, Latimer Co. OK;
Alder Lee MOORE, b.abt. 1876 d. abt.
1918, Red Oak, Latimer Co., OK; and Robert Edward
Lee MOORE b. May 6, 1881.
According
to oral history John
died in 1881 shortly after the birth of Robert.
"Lovey" is said to have remarried several
times, no names or dates known. About 1895 "Lovey"
and their three sons appear in the White Co., AR, area. George
(my ggfather) married Amanda Rebecca "Becky"
Hillis
and their first child Robert Plez
was born in Rose Bud, White Co. in 1897. As far as I know all six
of their
children were born in AR.
About
1910 they moved to Panola, Latimer Co., OK, where
they lived out their lives.
I would
deeply appreciate any information, especially
on John MOORE and Lovey,
whose maiden name has been given as both LEWIS
and TACKETT. She rests in
the MOORE family plot in the cemetery
at Lutie, OK, and a sketch of the graveyard gives her name as "Granny
TACKETT." Thanks for any information.

I
am working on trying to locate
the ancestor to Lewis Willcutt
of Fayette County. He married Rachel Amoson
and lived in the area until his death between 1850-1855. He
farmed and
made chairs for the public. A family Bible states he was from
S.C. and
the mortality census states Kentucky. I am hoping to find land,
estate
or other records that might point me in the right direction. Are
there
any local papers from that time that might have had an obituary?
