I am looking for information on
George B. COBB and
Caroline SPEERS (not

(now
Lamar County) in the 1870 Census. George was born between 1818
and 1820
in SC and Caroline was born between 1820 and 1825. Caroline is
listed
in
the 1880 Cullman County Alabama Census as Pernicia Cobb. George's
parents were Wilson COBB and Grace Greenwood SEABORN. Some of
their
known children were:
William (b. 1844)
Mary (b. 1846)
John (b. 1850)
Malvinia (b. 1854)
Thomas A. (b. 1856)
James R. (b. 8/6/1860 d. 5/23/1926)
Sarah J. (b. 1863).
Any help would be appreciated.

LIVINGSTON • SANDERS |
Pat Dakin Sat

LIVINGSTON and SANDERS connection,
Fayette and Lamar counties, AL
By Patricia L. Dakin, patdakin@mindspring.com
Seeking information regarding SARAH LIVINGSTON who married
JAMES A.
SANDERS, 15 Jan 1869,
Fayette Co., AL. at the home of John Sanders. It
is believed that James A. Sanders, b. abt 1852, AL, was the son of J.
J.
Sanders, and Rosannah.
Could Sarah’s parents have been Richard Carvin Livingston and his
wife
Harriet? Sarah was listed as age 2 on the 1850 census, Fayette
Co., AL.
She was not listed on the 1860 census as Sarah, but possibly as
“Delia.”
However, I believe that was possibly either another given name or a
nickname. This child was listed as age 9, but almost all the
other
children’s ages were off, therefore, I wonder if they were the same
individual. There is confusion as to her place of birth, either
AL or
MS; I know her father lived in MS about the time she was born. If she
was the correct individual, there were two younger siblings born in
MS,
It is my belief that this SARAH LIVINGSTON was somehow related to the
Livingstons in Fayette/Lamar counties. I have no one else in this
family
group who be this particular Sarah Livingston, at least with that birth
date.
Per census data, the family is tracked:
1870 Fayette Co., post office Pilgrim’s Rest, 1st July:
12-12-
Sanders, J.A. – age 18, farmer, b. AL
S.E. – age 18, keeping house, b. AL (b. abt 1852)
M.J.R.A.E. – female, age 8 months, b.Febr.
They are living next to J.N. (Jackson) Livingston and his wife Mary
Ann
(McCool) [HH 13]. Living in HH 14 was R.C. (Richard Carvin)
Livingston
and his wife Martha Elizabeth (Parker) [Sanders], and her son Joel H.
Sanders. His father was William A. Sanders, who died in the Civil
War.
This Richard Carvin Livingston and Jackson N. Livingston were
brothers.
They were too young to have been Sarah Livingston’s parents; I believe
they were her uncles.
And to add to the confusion, perhaps the individual below was not the
correct Sarah (Livingston) Sanders, however, I believe it was.
The lack
of a daughter on this census indicates that possibly the child died?
1880 Fayette County, June 19, Beat 10:
175-176-
Sarah Sanders, age 25, widow, b. MS, father b. AL, mother b.
MS
James M. – age 7, son, b. AL, father b. AL, mother b. MS
Arty A. – age 4 months?, b. Feb., son, b. AL, father b. AL, mother b.
MS
She living near Jackson N. Livingston, Harvey Sanders, William W.
Sanders, John Sanders, age 47.
1900 US Census, Fayette Co., Beat 10, June 5:
35-35-
Sanders, Sallie, b. Feb. 1853, age 47, Widow, mother of 4
children, 4 living, b. MS, father b. AL, mother b. MS
A.A. – son, b. Feb. 1878, age 22, single
BIRTIE, son, b. Dec. 1885, age 14, single, b. AL, father b. AL, mother
b.
MS -- In the 1910 census, however, he was listed as age 21, thus making
his
birth date about 1880-1881, possibly after his father’s death, since
his
mother was listed as a widow/divorced in 1880.
1900 Census:
HH 28-28-
Sanders, J.M. – head, b. May 1872, age 28, married for 6
years,
b. AL, parents b. AL
Martha – wife, b. Feb. 1877, age 23, mar. 6 years, mother of 1 child, 1
child living, b. AL, parents b. AL
Ressie/Rossie?- dau., b. Nov. 1894, age 5, b. AL, parents b. AL
1910 Census, Fayette Co., Pct 10, Lee, April 19, 20, 21:
16-16-
Sanders, Bertie O. – head, age 21, married one time for 5 years,
b. AL, parents b. AL
Georgia – wife, age 26, married one time for 5 years, mother of 1
child,
1 child living, b. AL, parents b. AL
Bessie L. – dau., age 1, b. AL, parents b. AL
SARAH – MOTHER, age 54, sgle, mother of 2 children, 2 living (this was
not correct; she had at least 4 children.)

Obtained from 1820-1870 Business Journal in
North Carolina. Journal belonged to E. ARANT and John Arant
b.1825. The
journal mentions sending money to: Fayette County Alabama to a Mr.
Phillip NOTTS? AOTTS? IOTTS? JOTTS?. It was a lot
of money $625. The
journal records this transaction around 1837 -1840. This was not
a
relative of ours that I know of. I think that this Mr. Phillip
was
someone promenient. I think that the money was for land
purchased,
court
case, or supplies. Anyone with any information of this man, please
email
me at hmarshville@aol.com. One of our family, Phillip Arant moved
to
Lowndes, Alabama in 1831. His family lived there, but this entry
is
much
later and clearly says: Fayette County and Phillip.

I am researching my mother's family
and have come to a stand still with her mother's parents. I am
not for
sure where they lived but I do remember her talking about growing up in
the Winfield area. My grandmother's name is Jesse Heleon (Holliman)
Moore.
She married James Ellis Moore
in 1925.
Her parents names were W.P. HOLLIMAN - father; and Teenie Lillian JOHNSON.
My
grandmother was the eldest and after Lillian died was responsible for
the
younger ones. Lillian died after giving birth when Jesse was
about 11
years old. The infant's name was Anne and she married Rudy Mitchell.
I believe there were 2 or 3 boys between Jesse & Anne. If any
one
could
help me I would greatly appreciate any info
they are willing to share.
