We found in my mother-in-law's
possessions at her death a handwritten genealogy list of her
family. The
following statement was written:
Penina KILGORE
married Lish SWINDLE.
He died and she married Jim
RUSSELL. Jim
Russell had a daughter named Ann by a previous marriage who
married Lish Swindle, Jr. Penina Kilgore was born 29 Aug 1836 and
died
15 Mar 1916 and is buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (Penina and Jim
Russell). I have her father as William Kilgore and her mother
Minerva
Patton if this is
correct.
I have been unable to find a Lish Swindle as it probably is a
nickname.
Can anyone help me with the right names.

I am trying to sort out any connection that Sarah C. (last name
unknown)
who married J.T. (John? T.) Sanders
might have to my Fayette Co. group of
Livingstons, i.e. Moses Livingston,
Jackson Livingston, etc. J.T.
Sanders was born abt 1833, SC. Sarah C. was b. Oct. 1836. I
believe
they married bet. 1853-54.
I found them as a mar. couple on the 1860
Fayette Co. census:
J.T. Sanders - age 25, b. SC
Sarah - age 24, b. AL
William - age 5, b. AL
George - age 2, b. AL
1870 Fayette Co., Pilgrim
Rest post office:
J.T. Sanders - age 37, b. SC
S.C. - age 33, b. AL
W.W. - age 13, b. AL
G.W. - age 11, b. AL
M.E. - female, age 7, b. AL
M.J. - female, age 3, b. AL
1880- Fayette Co, Lee:
Sanders, John - age 47, b. SC, parents b. SC
Sarah C. - age 43, b. AL, father b. VA, mother b. SC
Mary E. - age 17, b. AL, father b. SC, mother b. AL
Salina M. - age 13, b. AL, father b. SC, mother b. AL
John T. - age 7, b. AL, father b. SC, mother b. AL
Williams, James S. (white male), age 14, hired, b. AL, parents b. SC
1900- Fayette, Lee:
Sanders, J.T. - b. Oct. 1871, age 28, mar. 8 years, b. AL, father b.
SC,
mother b. AL (This was son J.T., age
7 in 1880)
Lillie - b. Sept. 1870, age 29
Onie - dau., b. Jan. 1892, age 8
Lowenia? - dau., b. Sept. 1894, age 5
Walter - son, b. Dec. 1897, age 3
Sarah - mother, b. Oct. 1836, age 63, widow, mother of 5 children, 4
living, b. AL, parents b. SC
Note the discrepancies of Sarah's parents' birth place. Sarah was also listed on the 1910 census in her son J.T.'s household. A copy of her death certificate received from the Alabama Center for Health Statistics was dated Sept. 7, 1910, signed by V. Savage, post office Fayette. Her date of Death was listed as Sept. 5, 1910, Fayette County, Beat Lee, state of Alabama. The number of years she resided at the place of death is difficult to read, but it looks like 40. Her age at death was 74 years, 3 months, and 27 days; she was widowed. She was buried in the "Sanders Grave Yard." To further complicate the confusion of the Sarah Livingston and Sanders mix, the 1870 census, on the same page as J.T. Sanders and his wife Sarah, and my group of Livingstons, was the following family: J.A. Sanders - age 18, b. AL S.E. Sanders - age 18, b. AL (b. abt 1852) M.J.R.A.E. - dau., age 8/12 or 11/12, b. AL, b. Feb. This was Sarah E. Livingston who mar. J.A. Sanders:
Spouse 1: Jas. A. Sanders
- Spouse 2: Sarah Livingston
- Marriage Date: 15 Jan 1869
- Marriage Place: Fayette
- Performed By: Minister
- Surety/Perf. Name: J. B. Nabers
Moses Livingston had several daughters, and John T. Sanders and his wife Sarah C. were living near Moses' sons J.N. (Jackson) Livingston and his family, and R.(Richard) C. Livingston and his family. Sarah Livingston and James A. Sanders were listed next to J.N. Livingston, but she was not his daughter. I have not been able to account for Moses' daugher "Elender" however the family Bible listed her birth date as Dec. 1835. 1870 census, Fayette Co.- Listed between R.C. Livingston and J.T. Sanders was the J.H. Trim (index shows Srim) family with his wife S.(Sarah)C. Trim, b. SC. Any relationship, if any to the other families is unknown. Any assistance in sorting out who these female Livingstons might be will be greatly appreciated. Pat Dakin

Zelmer HALOMAN was
listed in the 1900
census as b. 1888. I think her name was actually Zelma HOLLIMAN. Her
father was listed in the same census as James Haloman who was born
1858,1859 or maybe 1860.
James was born in Fayette Co.; his father was born in SC and his mother
in AL. There is only 1 Holliman family in the 1860 census with
the mother
and father born in those states yet James does not appear with
them. I am
looking for the father and mother of James to complete my wife's
genealogy through the great great grandparents.
Zelma m. David Aught SMITH
and both are buried in the Chapel Hill Church
cemetery. David was the father of Walter Lee Smith who sired a
base born
child by Mary Lee WHEAT
- that child is my wife.
If anyone has information on this line or is interested in pursuing the
search please contact me. Thanks,
Hugh

My ggrandmother is listed on Fayette County census reports as Hilda W;
her maiden name was Hood.
Her husband was John Thomas Dillard.
Both were
born in Georgia. I lost track of her after the 1920 census though
I know
he moved to Washington County Oklahoma. He re-married in 1926 to
Chessie
Trimm. Problem:
I don't know who Hilda's parents were or where/when she
died. Thanks for any help!

I am a descendant of the HOLLIMAN,
BAKER, WALKER family. I am particularly interested in Samuel Taylor
Walker who I believe
is buried by his first wife at Pilgrim's Rest
Cemetery. the only thing marking Sam's grave is a couple of
rocks.
Where is his military marker??? Sam's dob was 11/14/1821 in
Shelby
County Al. He resided in Fayette, Alabama. He was married
to Elizabeth
Johnson Walker (dob
10/18/1821). Samuel enlisted in the confederate army
on 9/10/1862 leaving behind his wife and six children (8th AL Regiment,
Co I)-one of his children, Martha Jane Walker married John Thomas
Holliman (my gg
grandfather). At some point Elizabeth passed away and
Samuel remarried a Salina Moss
who I think resided in Fayette. Would like
to know more about her...have no info on Salina (would like to know
where
she is buried). He married Salina on December 1, 1881. I
visit Fayette
often and familiar with most of the cemeteries. If you have any
information regarding Sam, Elizabeth or Salina I would love to hear
from
you.
