The granddaughter of Colonel Ezekiel Abner
POWELL, Alice Amanda PROPST (Mrs. Julian Eugene BUCHANAN), had
considerable information in the early 20th century ABOUT the
descendants
of Benjamin and Ambrose POWELL of Virginia who settled in Fayette and
Tuscaloosa Counties. I have some of that information; therefore I
would
like to communicate with a descendant of these POWELL'S.

Does anyone know about
the JOHNSON brothers
that made the clay jugs in the last 1800's? Curt
JOHNSON was my husband's g-g-grandfather. Looking for jugs if
anyone
knows where any are. The trademark is the thumb print on the
bottom of
the jugs. The old jug factory site is off highway 159 near the
firetower.
There is also a JOHNSON family cemetary near the old jug factory.
Very
grown up and difficult to get to. None of the stones have names
and there
is a huge tree down in the cemetary. Wondering if anyone knows
who is
buried here...I am sure it is some of the brothers who ran the jug
factory.

Permelia Ann "Millie" SHAW,
a daughter of Joseph H. SHAW and
Nancy DAVISON, lived
in Coosa, Fayette, and Walker Counties, Alabama.
She was born November 7, 1851; died March 12, 1942, Jasper, Walker Co.,
AL. She married Thomas Jackson HENDON, born July 24, 1851,
Walker Co.,
AL; died ? (after 1882), a son of William HENDON and Sarah DICKSON. They
were on the 1880 census in Walker Co., AL, and "Mealie" Ann
HENDON was shown as a widow on the 1900 US Census in Fayette Co.,
AL.
Her father, Joseph H. SHAW was sharing her household. They were
the
parents of four daughters: Elizabeth HENDON, born 1875; Malinda HENDON,
born 1877; Lucinda Alice HENDON, born September 6, 1880, died April 21,
1956, Jasper, Walker Co., AL. (Was residing in Oakman at that time) and
lastly Arnetta (or Ardella) HENDON, born March 1882.
Permelia Ann SHAW-HENDON's death certificate stated she was buried
in the Tidwell
Chapel Cemetery in Fayette Co., AL; but she was not listed on the
survey.
Her daughter, Lucinda Alice HENDON and husband, George N. Dozier were
buried there and listed on the survey. He was a son of Pleasant
DOZIER
and Adeline M. HUFFMAN
of Fayette Co., AL. Who did her sisters,
Eliizabeth, Melinda, and Arnetta/Ardella marry? What happened to
their
father, Thomas Jackson HENDON? Were he and Permelia Ann
divorced? Does
anyone know the site of Permelia's unmarked grave in this
cemetery?
Many thanks for any information.

I am trying to find out more about JOHN W.
WOODS 1860 – 1902
married to IDA CURRY
in about 1882. He was my great
grandfather and is buried in the Bankston Cemetery. Because there
are so
many Woods in the county, I have not been able to identify his
parents.
I did find a census record in Marion County with a John W Woods age 11
but that would put him born in 1859.
Any help would help.
~ Thanks, John W Woods, son of John
W Woods who was the son of JEPTHA
WOODS who was the son of afore mentioned John W Woods

I am trying to find information on the
BURNS, McCARVER, and BOBO families.
For the BURNS I am looking for
CHARLIE SENIOR BURNS
and RUFUS BURNS. CHARLIE SENIOR BURNS was married
to BELZORA A. HUGHES
but I think that was a second marriage. I do not
know who his first wife may have been.
For McCARVER I am looking for
ALFRED YANCEY McCARVER
and JOHN McCARVER (his middle initial I think is
W.). ALFRED YANCEY McCARVER was married to MERTIE BOBO (I think Belle is
her middle name). JOHN McCARVER was married to SAMANTHA McCarver/PERKINS.
I have found eveidence that the name PERKINS comes from a second
marriage
to E.A. PERKINS. I do not know her maiden name.
For the BOBOs I am
looking for the parents of MERTIE BOBO. I have information that
says her
parents we JAMES BOBO and PAULINE MOUNTS. Other
information I have found
says they were JAMES MADDOX BOBO and MARCISSA PAULINE MOORE. If you have
any data on these families or people please email me. I will be
glad to
share with you any information I have also.

Tue Jun 29 18:41:53 2010
I am interested in the families buried in the Wade or Old Union or New
River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Fayette Co., AL, surveyed by
Fred McCaleb.
Buried there is John H. WADE,
born February 25, 1818, SC, died June 28,
1895, and his wife, Mary "Polly" RILEY, born about 1816;
died --19 (probably 1919). They first appeared on the 1860 US
Census in
Fayette Co., AL, with a large family, all children born in
Georgia. (Mary
was identified as Polly RILEY in a son's death certificate.)
Their
monuments read: J. H. WADE and M. S. WADE, showing she was born Jan
1811, older that her age on census records.
One son, buried there was John C. WADE, born Mar. 4, 1859; died Nov.
20,
1920. Another grave shows an F. WADE - no dates. (They had a son
named
Francis M. and a daughter named Frances A. so it could be either
one.) Is
anyone researching this family?
Son, John C. WADE appears to have been married more than once. He
married Emma P. HARRIS,
born March 1874, who was with him on the 1900
Census in Fayette Co., AL. By 1910, he was married to a widow,
Tiller
WYERS, the widow of
Tommie BROWN,
according to her daughter's death
certifcate. Neither of the two wives are buried with him.
Tiller Wyers-Brown-Wade and her daughter, who married a Stough, are buried in the
North River Church of Christ Cemetery. Was John previously
married
before these two?
Also buried there is WILLIAM McCOLLUM, and his two
wives, firstly, Mary
PICKLE, born 1802;
died Mar. 21, 1849 and second wife, Elizabeth Ardella
HENDON, born April 6,
1814; died July 24, 1890. She was a daughter of
Johnson HENDON and Sarah SCOGGINS
and at home on the 1850 census in
Walker Co., AL. It was her first marriage. Her neice,
Martha J. HENDON,
married her stepson, Samuel McCOLLUM.
Fred McCaleb said in his survey that the Cemetery had been abandoned
and
he wanted to generate interest in descendents rehabiltating the
cemetery.
It this still the case? Hopefully by highlightng those buried
with
additional informaton, I can assist in that effort. Elizabeth
Ardella
HENDON McCOLLUM was a sister to my Great Great Great Grandfather,
William
HENDON. Martha J. HENDON who married SAMUEL McCOLLUM, is a
daughter of
their brother, Harris HENDON and Synthia DEAN of 1850 census in
Lawrence
Co., AL.

17, 1927, age 25, in Borger, Hutchinson Co., TX according to his death
certicate. He was married but wife's maiden name was not
listed.
What was her name and were there children?
Did Lucious and Jerusha STUDDARD PANTER have additional

1900
Census.
