Silas Benjamin RAY
was born in 1884 in Winston
co alabama and went to Fayette co Al. He lived in the Georges
Creek area
I believe. He married Annie May Strickland.
Silas Benjamin RAY had a
brother named David Clinton RAY who was born in 1882 in Winston co
Al. He
also went to Fayette c Al. He died in 1967 in Berry co Al.
David Clinton
RAY died in 1949. He and his son Silas Jr drowned in the Warrior
River.
Silas Benjamin RAY had children - Charles Taze RAY, born 1917;
Elijah Friedman RAY, born 1907;
Johnnie Eugene RAY, born 1909;
Charley RAY, born 1917;
Silas RAY Jr., born 1926;
Hermon Leo RAY, born 1931.
Would anyone know if any of the children of Silas Benjamin RAY and
Annie
Mae STRICKLAND that are listed are still living or who their children
are. I would like to have a DNA test done but it has to be a
direct male
descendant of Silas Benjamin RAY. I will pay for the DNA
test. IF anyone
knows the RAYS in the George's Creek area or the Berry Al area of
Fayette co Al please ask them to contact me. Also, the draft card
from
1917 for Silas Benjamin Ray born 1884 says he was white and
indian. Would
anyone know if the RAYS were native American? Any help
appreciated. Ross

I am looking for any information on George
W. Townsend or any
family members, whether deceased or still alive. I
found George Townsend on the 1860 Fayette County census being about 15
years old and living with his parents, William and Emaly Townsend and
several other siblings. This George W. Townsend is my great-grand
father.
My Mother is 86 and she has tried for years to find other family
members. I am sure George's siblings have living relatives.
Are
there any of the descendants who live in the Fayette Co. area that
could
help us. ANY information on George or any family members would be
greatly appreciated. George married Alice Simmons in Lawrence Co.
Alabama. We think he may have been married to a "Susan" before
marrying Alice. Alice is the grand-daughter of the legendary
"Aunt
Jenny Brooks Johnston" from Winston Co,
Tories of the Hills, living
in the Bankhead Forest. PH# 256-216-0655 or email
