Lillie D. Jarnigan 96, Russellville, Ala., died Nov. 4, 2002, at Care Center of Red Bay. She was a native of Alabama and a homemaker. Mrs Jarnigan was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland K. Jarnigan; a daughter, Betty Sue Greenhill; a son, Herman Richard Jarnigan; and a granddaughter, Tina Armstrong. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Thompson and the Rev. Silas Oliver officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Deaton, Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., directing. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay. She is survived by three daughters, Earlene Robinson and husband, Grady Robinson, Inez Mitchell and husband, Robert Mitchel, all of Russellville, Ala., and Lorene Jones, Red Bay, Ala.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will include Anthony Bentley, Miles Bentley, Roger Mitchel, Junior Mitchell, Brian Bentley and Chris Bentley.
Joseph Edgar Jarnigan born 6 Jun. 1893, Franklin Co., Al., died 24 Apr. 1977, Franklin Co., Al. Funeral rites were held 28 Apr. 1977, at 2 p.m. from Cedar Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. George Fretwell and Rev. Jack Sparks officiating, burial followed in the church cemetery, Dean Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay directing. Mr. Jarnigan died April 27 at the Red Bay Hospital following a long illness. He was a member and Deacon of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, a resident of Franklin County and a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ada Jarnigan; children, Mrs. Gladys Lewey, Russellville, O'Neal Jarnigan, Russellville, Joe Jarnigan, Tuscumbia, Mrs. Reba Thorn, Red Bay, Mrs. Arvie Dean George, Tuscumbia, U. R. Jarnigan, Russellville; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ellis Jarnigan (Twin), Red Bay, Cleveland Jarnigan, Russellville; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Kuykendall, Red Bay, Mrs. Myrtle Black, Red Bay, Mrs. Lydia Bolton, Vina; a number of neices and nephews.
William Ellis Jarnigan 91, of Red Bay, died Thursday afternoon 13 Dec. 1984, at his residence. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Services were held Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Winter, David McCollum, and Mr. Bill Jarnigan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include three sons, Troy Jarnigan, William Jarnigan, Gerald Jarnigan; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Kuykendall and Mrs. Myrtle Black, all of Red Bay; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jarnigan 77, Route 6, Russellville, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 1983 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, with Revs. Jackie Thompson and Virgil Chism officiating, burial was in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Dean Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, directing. He died Thursday, May 5, 1983 at his residence. He was a retired farmer and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Jarnigan; daughters, Mrs. Inez Mitchell, Mrs. Earlene Bentley, both of Route 6, Russellville and Mrs. Lorene Beckberger, Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Mrs. Fannie Kuykendall, Route 2, Red Bay, Mrs. Liddie Bolton, Route 2, Vina, Mrs. Myrtle Black, Route 6, Russellville; brother, Ellis Jarnigan, Route 2 Red Bay; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren
Mrs. Odessa Nichols Jarnigan 51, Route 1. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Waymon, Fike and Dwight Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. She died Monday, Oct. 16, 1989, at Helen Keller Memorial Hospital, Sheffield, after an extended illness. She was a native of Colbert County, a member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church, and a loan manager at Valley Credit Union. Survivors include her husband, Wathel D. Jarnigan, Tuscumbia; daughters, Felicia Jarnigan Phillips, Pamela Jarnigan, both of Tuscumbia; brothers, Don Nichols, Melrose Park, Ill., Rochelle Nichols, Miami, Fla.; sisters, Ms. Maggie Nell Middleton, Mrs. Emma Brown, both of Tuscumbia, Mrs. Patricia Helmick, Miami, Fla., Mrs. Kathy Clayton, Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. JoAnn Knox, Jackson, Miss., Mrs. Maxine Tice, Chicago, Ill. Mr. Floyd Oneal Jarnigan age 66, of Rt. 2, Russellville, was dead on arrival May 31, 1982 at 9:30 a.m. at the Red Bay Hospital. Services were held on Wednesday, June 2, 1982 at 2 p.m. from the James Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Coye Marbutt and Rev. Virgil Chism officiating. Burial was in Dempsey Cemetery with Dean Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Jarnigan was a native of Franklin Co., a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army. He was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife; Mrs. Easter Richardson Jarnigan; one daughter, Mrs. Fredia Kirby, one son, Glen Jarnigan, 2 grandsons, Randy and Michael Jarnigan, mother, Mrs. Ada Jarnigan, three sisters; Mrs. Gladys Lewey all of Russellville, Mrs. Reba Thorn of Red Bay; Mrs. Arvie George of Tuscumbia; two brothers; Joe Jarnigan of Tuscumbia and U. R. Jarnigan of Russellville, several nieces and nephews.
Hebron Levan Jarnigan 48, Liberty, Miss., died Monday, Oct. 15, 1998, at Field Memorial Hospital, Centreville, Miss. He was born May 10, 1950, in Tuscumbia, Ala. He was a logger. Survivors include his wife, Connie A. Jarnigan, Liberty, Miss; one daughter, Neioka "Nikki" Jarnigan, Liberty, Miss.; parents, Joe and Lora R. Jarnigan of Tuscumbia, Ala.; one brother, Wathel Jarnigan, Tuscumbia, Ala.; two sisters, Delores Vickers, Chickamauga, Ga., Barbara Walker, Tuscumbia, Ala.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Russellville, Ala. Visitation will be at Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy, Gloster, Miss., Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2 p.m., until time of religious services Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy. Interment will be in Mary Springs Cemetery, Gloster, Miss., with Rev. Bobby Greer officiating.
Joe "Jobe" Jarnigan 82, Tuscumbia, Ala., died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, with burial in Dempsey Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Gatus Cheatham. Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing. Mr. Jarnigan was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Hebron Jarnigan; parents, Edgar and Ada Jarnigan; brother, Oneal Jarnigan; and sister, Gladys Lewey. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lora Mavis Richardson Jarnigan of Tuscumbia; son, Wathel Jarnigan and wife, Doris, of Tuscumbia; daughters, Barbara Walker and husband, Randy, of Tuscumbia, Delores Vickers, and husband, Martin, of Chicamauga, Ga; brother, U. Gladys Jarnigan Lewey 84, died Sunday, May 24, 1998 at Red Bay Hospital. She was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church and a housewife. Services were held May 26 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with the Rev. Randy Hargett officiating. Burial followed in Dempsey Cemetery. Survivors include four sons, Talmadge Lewey and wife Betty of Russellville, Carl Lewey and wife Karen of Red Bay, Horace Lewey and wife Pam of Russellville, Norris Lewey and wife Brenda of Red Bay; two daughters, Racine Holt and husband Ed of Cleveland, Ohio, Berlene Puckett and husband Jim of Cleveland; two sisters, Reba Thorn of Red Bay, Arvie Dean George of Tuscumbia; two brothers, U. R. Jarnigan of Russellville, and Joe Jarnigan of Tuscumbia; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her late husband Oscar Belcher Lewey, in 1996.
Troy Jarnigan 83, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at the Red Bay Hospital. He was a native of Alabama. He was a member of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for 53 years. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the 155th Infantry as a chapplain's assistant. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 120. He was a retired security guard. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Leaborn McCarley, Bro. Eugene Digby and Bro. Gerald Hoyle officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay, Ala., is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Marie Jarnigan of Russellville, Ala.; two daughters, Mary Margaret Hoyle of Pell City, Ala., and Katherine Johnson of Russellville, Ala.; two sons, Roger Lee Jarnigan of Red Bay and Talton J. Jarnigan of Russellville, Ala.; two brothers, William Jarnigan and Gerald Jarnigan, both of Red Bay; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald and William Jarnigan, Jacob Jarnigan and Joshua Mitchell. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
