Pellum Family CemeteryPartial ListingPellum Cemetery: (Partial) Clyde Rebecca Barnes wife 1st of John Dukes Johnson County, Georgia, entered Alabama in 1879 with brother Joshua Franklin Barnes, Sr., married second Francis Marion Cobia of the Barnes Community, Henry County, Alabama August 14, 1884. [In open field where the Pellum Log home sat. Pellum's entered this land circa 1831. The Pellum Cemetery I know of in Henry is not on any list I have found to date; it is located at the intersection of County roads 36 and 65, south of Shorterville; working on memory here, and as I recall, there were a number of head-rocks and only one marked, that of Private Thomas A. Penuel, Company G, 23rd Alabama Infantry Regiment; the name of the cemetery was given to me by "Jacko" Elliott, mayhaps he can shed some light on it; again on memory, there is I believe a Pellum or Pelham Cemetery down in the part of Houston that was Henry County prior to 1903. Incidentally, there were a number of Pellum/Pelham from Henry who are known to have served in the WBTS. Deo Vindice, Homer T. Jones. |
