Henry Harp FamilyContributed by Norm Brown The winds of time has all but erased any evidence that this family ever existed. But they did. Henry Harp was born about 1796 in the state of South Carolina and moved to Georgia as some point in his young life. He is found in Stewart County, Georgia by 1850 with wife Susan E. Naiel or Nail, born about 1813 in SC. Susan had a brother named Edward born about 1805. Nothing more is know of Susan or Henry’s ancestors. By 1860 Henry Harp and family are in Early Co., GA. They had the following children: Mary Jane Harp Dixon, born C1831 in SC, married unknown Dixon; children: Emmett W., Susan, & William Dixon. By 1870 the only known survivors are: Sarah Harp Whitehead in Henry Co., AL. In her HH is Emmett W. Dixon & Eugenia Harp. Apparently, Henry Harp, his wife Susan, William Harp, Susan & William Dixon are gone! Emmett was found listed as Dickerson in Henry Co., 1870 and was there in 1880. It is alleged that some of this Harp Clan moved from SC to FL, however, few footprints remain. It is possible that Mary Jane Harp married a Dixon in Stewart Co., GA around 1851-52 or a Dixon in Early Co., GA. There were Dixons’ in both locations. *** UPDATE *** Since I emailed the report to you on Emmett W. Dixon I found his burial location at Pleasant Home Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at Thurston, Geneva Co., AL.
