William Rufus King and Caroline Buie

William R. King was born in Georgia on January 1, 1834 and came to Henry County Alabama about 1835 with his parents. William's Mother and Father were Michael DeVane King born in Cumberland County North Carolina, died about 1855) and Arenna Wall King (died in 1902) and both are buried in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in what is now Houston County Alabama. William died February 28, 1923 near Ashford, Houston County Alabama and is buried at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in what is now Houston County, Alabama.

William and Caroline were married on March 6, 1856 by Richard McGriff, who was his Uncle by marriage to Sarah King. The Wedding took place at the home of Caroline's Father and Mother, John William and Mary McKenzie Buie, in Henry County Alabama.

William's Father, Michael King had a brother and three sisters, all born in Cumberland County North Carolina to move to Henry County in the mid 1830's. See Henry Co. Biographies page for Michael DeVane and Arrenia Wall King.

Caroline's brother Malcom Royal Buie married Sarah Jane King, William Rufus's sister. I know where a picture of them are but I have not been able to obtain a copy. I hope to in the near future and will send it for posting also. Malcom and Sarah Jane moved to around 1898 or 99 and settled in Overton Smith County Texas. Malcom, brother James A. and William W. Buie served in Company A, 6th Alabama Infantry from Henry County.

William Rufus King was a veteran of Company A, 6th Alabama Cavalry, CSA.
