COOPER, ROLAND, SMITH posted by Iva Smith on Monday, February 9, 1998

Polly ROLAND, born about 1800, married James M. SMITH, born Jun 9, 1778. They settled in the area of Big Creek in Houston County and later lived near Fadette in Geneva County. After James died, Polly moved (returned?) to Henry County and is believed to be buried near the Abbey. James and Polly's children were: Daniel U., Jim, John, Zion, Rebecca, Mary, and David Levi. Seek information on the ROLAND family. Believe there is a connection to the COOPER family (perhaps Polly's mother was a COOPER?).

COWFAIT, HUDSON, MARTIN posted by Martin de Vore on Sunday, February 15, 1998

MARTIN, HUDSON, COWFAIT: I'm looking for any information on the family of Dr. Alexander Lafayette Martin who resided in the Abbeville area from the 1850s through the early 1900s. I'm also looking for any info on Aaron Hudson and Elizabeth Cowfait who were married in Henry County on or about Jan. 17, 1822. And finally, I'd really like to know what kind of records I can hope to get copies of from the Henry County Courthouse dating from the 1800s. I realize that this last one is probably asking a lot but in some counties you can get stuff to the 1700s and in others from only the 1900s. Any help will be truly appreciated. Martin de Vore, Humble, Texas.
