I am looking for info. on his father James Thomas Gibbons he married a women some of the family say was Martha Green or maybe a woman named Miller Who was a widower from a man named Jeffrey so I am told he came to America from England no idea when. He settled in South Carolina for a while some where on the P. D. River. He was a big Turpentine Dealer it is told. They say he had 500 blacks working for him when he sold out and moved to Al. by river barge. He was to have had two other wives one in England she died there and the others no one knows if he married her in England or the States. There was a first cousin named Peter Gibbons who moved to Texas before the end of world war one. The rest of the Gibbons family followed but returned to Henry Co. Al.In the 1910 census James T. died in Nov. 1953. There were at least 5 children 2 girls and 3 boys that I can account for. If anyone can help me with any of this info. COCHRAN, COHRON posted by Ron Hall on Friday, July 31, 1998

My gg-g/father, Nicholas COHRON, of Henry County died in the Civil War. His father, I'm fairly sure, was William Leonidas Cohron, who last appears in census records as a resident of Troup County, GA in 1840. In 1850, his family appears without him in the 1850 census of Chambers Co, AL. I think he had died by that time. However, in 1848, a William L. COCHRAN (the names Cohron and Cochran are interchanged frequently through the years) filed a land claim as a resident of Henry County. If there's any further information available concerning this William L. Cochran, I'd really appreciate hearing about it.
