BROXTON, BURKE, WORRELL posted by G. Jones on Friday, November 6, 1998

I have found 6 household’s with WORRELL’s in the 1850 census for Stewart Co., GA. Does anyone know how they were related and/or where they came from? There was a Benjamin (J.) WORRELL who married a Catherine BURKE in Stewart Co. in 1858, and then moved to Henry Co., AL and filed for land there in Nov. 1858 along with Josiah WORRELL (family #6). The families of both Josiah and Benjamin were in Henry Co., AL for the 1860 census. Josiah's family was also in Henry Co. for the 1870 census. Does anyone know whether this Benjamin was the Jos. The 1850 Henry County Census has Thos Picron as head of household with wife Sarah, children: Elizabeth, Caroline, Rachel (my ggrandmother), Reubin and the last two are (?) Curenton and Elizabeth. The household next to the Picron is also a Curenton. What is the relationship between the Picron and Curenton families?

AYERS, HOLLAND, OATES posted by Jacob L. Bateman III on Monday, November 9, 1998

Looking for all the information that I can find on the marriages of Dr.W.S. OATES . He may have married Caroline AYERS perhaps in Henry County in 1875, they possibly had a child named James Wyatt born 1876. Now there has been no records located for ELizabeth Cornelia HOLLAND, but it is probable that he may have married her between 1876 and 1878. If there is anyone doing research on these famillies please contact me. Email me at LBate18495@aol.com or write me Jacob L. Bateman III 3870 Strathmore Drive Montgomery Alabama 36116-4614. Thank you

ARNOLD, LABOROUS posted by Jean O'Shea on Saturday, November 21, 1998

Joseph Laborous (Laborious) was born in Fla. c 1840, his parents were Jacob and Elizabeth Arnold. I have a copy of a legal document showing a James Laborus (note different spelling) owing money to Henry Arnold (Henry Co. dated 1877). Henry Arnold was my ggrandfather. I believe James Laborus was the son of Joseph. The puzzle is why both Joseph and James are not using Arnold as a surname. Joseph died in 1864 in the Civil War. According to record, he was married but her name was not mentioned. After 1877, I have no mention of the Laborous surname in any of its spellings. Does anyone know what nationality the name is. (Jacob was German, Elizabeth was Irish)
