HARDWICK, WHITTLE posted by Robert Lamar Whittle on Saturday, April 3, 1999

Thanks for the info. James G(ideon) was my grandfather and he moved back to Georgia after 1855. His first wife had died and he was living there in 1860 with his sister, Ruth Brown and her children. In 1861 he married Rebecca Draughon of Dooly county Georgia and they lived and died in Seville, a small community in Wilcox county just over the county line from what is now Crisp county. James (Jim) died from a freak accident in 1898 and Rebecca died in 1915 of natural causes. James G. was a farmer and Primitive Baptist preacher. Mary married a Hardwick from Headland , ALA.I Would like to get more information on the descendants of Mary and John Hardwick if possible.

WRIGHT posted by Harold E. Wright on Sunday, April 4, 1999

I am looking for parents and ancestors of my Gr-Grandfather, Elias Garner Wright. He was born about 1845-50 in Alabama, lived and raised a family in Pickens COunty and d. 1917 in Lowndes County, MS. I noted in the 1850 census of Henry county,AL that Westley and Martha Wright had a son, ELias, who was 4 years old in 1850,William, 2, and J.W., 1 year old. According to later census data (1880,1900,1910), Elias' parents were born in GA, like Weatley and Martha, and a William and J.W. were in Pickens County in 1880 like Elias..

Lynda, I don't have info on a Thomas and Mary PHILLIPS. But a question ? Could your Sarah Jane, age 17 in 1860, be my Mary Jane PHILLIPS, born 17 Feb 1843. She was married to my GGGrandfather Thomas GRIFFIN (Jr.) Thomas Sr. moved to Henry Co. AL c 1838 and settled in Lawrenceville, Henry Co. AL. Alot of similarities in names, dates, places.I could have her as Mary Jane (she could have been Sarah Jane??)

MCLANE, PHILLIPS posted by Lynda Taylor on Sunday, April 25, 1999

I received information from another researcher that leads me to believe that my Sarah Jane Phillips was the same as Sarah J. Phillips who married Angus McLane 06 Sep 1860, Henry Co., AL. Her brother, Thomas A. Phillips married Mary Jane McLane 17 Oct 1858, Henry Co., AL. (He later married Nancy McLane [possible sister of Mary Jane?]) Also it appears that Thomas' and Sarah Jane's brother Albert (or Elbert) J. Phillips married Martha McLane, 04 Feb 1866, Henry Co., AL. When did your Mary Jane and Thomas Griffin get married? Did they ever leave AL? Could your Mary Jane be the same as Thomas' and Sarah Jane's sister, Mary? She was born c1840 and is not listed on the 1860 Census with her family--which leads me to believe she either got married or died before that census. In 1870 some of this family are in Barbour Co., AL.
